28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of   money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect   elderly who are counting on   income from  ir homes as part of  ir retirement income.)

The truth about Obama and Taxes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lie:
A rapidly spreading email is tricking thousands—if not millions—of Americans with outrageous lies and misrepresentations about Barack Obama's tax policies.

The email has taken a few different forms, but the most common subject line says:

“Important read - Taxes INTERESTING DATA JUST RECEIVED ON TAXES”

The email starts innocently enough, but the warning signs are there:

Spread the word.....

This is something you should be aware of so you don't get blind-sided. This is really going to catch a lot of families off guard. It should make you worry.

Then it goes on to distort Barack’s “Proposed changes in taxes after 2008 General election” including:

Capital gains tax
Dividend tax
Income tax
Inheritance tax
New taxes on things like water
Truth:
Barack Obama wants the tax code to favor honest, hard-working people, and he has proposed a ,000 tax cut for middle class families.

But that hasn’t stopped anonymous smear-mongers from starting misleading rumors like this one.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FactCheck.org, a nonpartisan, nonprofit voter advocate group, debunked this email point-by-point:

“This widely distributed message is so full of misinformation that we find it impossible to believe that it is the result of simple ignorance or carelessness on the part of the writer. Almost nothing it says about Obama's tax proposals is true. We conclude that this deception is deliberate.” (emphasis added)

always check out SNOPES !It's my opinion that Senator Obama is trying to buy votes. He tells everyone that if he is elected they will recieve 00 to help with gas. He came to Michigan and promised 40 Billion for the American auto industry. Ridiculus. The auto industry greedily did their own damage. If he wants to give away billions to make energy efficiant vehicles, offer it openly. He is just trying to buy votes. Everywhere he goes he promises the moon. Eventually, Moon Man is gonna come knockin' look for his payment.

LEV

I met Obama in Oregon and listened to his speech and he didn't promise anything.  That was the primary reason that I found his campaign appealing.  I don't much care about what's written in this post but I did have a personal experience that I wanted to share; not just bits and pieces from emails or slanted news stories.  I also met and spoke with Cliinton and would have gone to see McCain speak but he hasn't been in an area that I could travel easily to.   Lindy

In my opion..they all suck and lie to get into office. Bottom line. "Friends always become enemies if you wait long enough." John GiornioLinB,
I beg your pardon, it was 4 billion dollars to Ford GM and Chrysler. They are private companies that look bad right now but are really doing quite well. The books look bad because of the amounts of money spent on buyouts but this money will be made up in less then 2 years and then the wages are cut in half. Smooth sailing. The unions and members are huge contributers to the democrats and as you'll read, the democrats like to repay the favors. Scandelous.

Obama Energy Rebate - Barack Obama proposed an energy rebate of ,000 to every consumer to help offset high gas prices and plans to finance the rebate with new taxes on oil company profits.

The Obama Energy Rebate would be financed by a windfall profits tax on oil companies which have recently reported record profits.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday called for a ,000 “emergency” rebate to consumers to offset soaring energy costs.

Obama’s call for immediate action came amid fresh signs of a struggling economy with the nation’s unemployment rate climbing to a four-year high.

“This rebate will be enough to offset the increased cost of gas for a working family over the next four months,” Obama told supporters at a town hall meeting in Florida.

Obama had earlier said the energy rebates should be part of a larger tax relief package. But now he says the slumping economy demands they be put in place immediately.

“We can either choose a new direction for our economy, or we can keep doing what we’ve been doing,” Obama said in calling for the ,000 rebates to help Americans struggling with high gas prices.

Of course, to give 50 million consumers a ,000 energy rebate each would cost the country  billion dollars at a time when the budget deficit is projected to exceed 0 billion for fiscal year 2009. [END]

Barack Obama endorses billion aid for GM, Ford and Chrysler

While the Bush administration still doesn’t favour the idea of supporting the Detroit car companies, in a letter sent to UAW workers on Friday, Sen. Barack Obama endorsed Michigan’s congressional Democrats are pushing for billion in aid to the U.S. auto industry as part of a second economic stimulus bill. According to Detroit Free Press, Obama and other congressional Democrats have said they even consider a second stimulus plan in September that could reach billion.

“America cannot truly prosper unless Michigan prospers [..] By providing tax credits and loan guarantees for our automakers and by expanding consumer tax incentives for ultraefficient vehicles, I will provide real solutions necessary to help this industry compete and win in the global economy,” Obama said in the letter to UAW members released by his campaign.

In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Michigan’s two Democratic senators urged Reid to include .75 billion in funding for loans, which could provide up to billion that automakers and parts suppliers could use for revamping old factories and engineering new models. The loans would be made directly from the U.S. Treasury to automakers at below-market interest rates. The funding would cover the government’s borrowing costs. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin also asked Reid to include 0 million for research into advanced batteries.

Sen. John McCain on the other hand, is against this loan program, as his campaign says his proposals, which include ,000 consumer tax credit for buying efficient vehicles, 0-million prize for electric vehicle batteries and strict goals for building flexible-fuel models, would accomplish the same thing.

The UAW, which has endorsed Obama, has pushed the loan program for some time as a way to give Detroit automakers aid without the specter of a government bailout. Last year’s energy bill authorized the loans, but provided no funding for them after Republicans blocked a tax measure that would have paid for the program. Automakers have been lukewarm to the idea in the past, but as all three face the worst market in decades, they’ve warmed to the idea.

levlarry2008-09-03 09:14:43You have to look at it this way, for every dollar that is contributed to the democratic party from the big three or the auto unions the big three and the unions get a return of between 100-1000 dollars per dollar contributed from the goverment. Not bad, huh? They are private companies. What makes them so special to the democrats that they should be treated special? Everybody knows why they get special treatment, big money in and big money out. Scandelous but the democrats don't care. You can show them in black and white and in living color, they just don't care.
