Okay. Fell In the Kitchen! | Arthritis Information

I was going to let Kenna outside to potty. I got up and right leg went dead. I fell on the kitchen floor. Had to get hubby to pick me up. He say's I don't need to be walking nor alone.

I was going to can tomatoes tomorrow and he said wait till he gets home. He said dinner might be late but better be safe than sorry. Carrying big pans with scalding water.
Question is..what is making me fall?
Any suggestions?
Have you had an MRI? Perhaps it is neurological since your blood work is normal.
Have you had an MRI? Perhaps it is neurological since your blood work is normal.
Yep - I would see a neurologist.  MS, in particular, can masquerade as many different illnesses, including RA.  Or you could have a neurological issue on top of RA.
Are you dizzy too? Maybe a med you are on is making you fall? Just a guess.
Be careful!!
No more falling!
My first symptom of these illnesses was I would fall for no apparent reason. I wouldn't even realize I was falling until it was too late. My primary didn't take me seriously until one time I fell forward in the driveway and put my arms out to catch myself which didn't work as my wrists were so weak, so I ended up landing on knees, then hands (which gave out) shoulder and the whole side of my face. My hubby went ballistic with our Dr's office. He called them and said he was taking me to the ER and My primary had better be there with all my records in hand or there would be hell to pay.  Would you believe he was there? After a year of falling down and a low grade fever, he finally took me seriously and sent me to a Rheumatologist and I was dx'd with RA first, then neuropathy soon after. Though my Dr still has me get an mri every year just to make sure it's not ms. I have a couple of lesions, but there has to be 5 I think...
I was never dizzy when I fell. It was really weird. Now though, it's almost always caused by my neuropathy and tripping. I swear I trip over shadows, lol.

Be careful and I hope it gets figured out soon!
I trip a lot too, but as I have no dx I can't tell you why it happens. I fell very badly a few months ago and had a concussion from it. I generally don't injure myself severely when I fall but it is scary. I am also not dizzy or anything when I fall.  Hey guys, I'm not dizzy when I fall. It just feels like my leg won't move and down I go. No no MRI as of yet.I've had some very bad falls that are exactly as you describe it. Not at all dizzy, just think I am moving my legs and they don't go anywhere.

Like owiemom, I was diagnosed with neuropathy. My neurologist said that can happen with neuropathy. I agree that you need to see a neurologist as soon as you can. There wasn't much I could do about the problem, except learn to be extremely careful! Even knowing that I must be careful hasn't kept me from falling, though. And since I broke my pelvis last tme I fell, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. When that happens, we must be more vigilant than ever!

Take care of yourself, Sweetie and "tread lightly".

Gentle hugs, Nini
Nini, that must have been a bad fall! I hope you are doing better. I have learned to slow way down, when before it was rush, rush, rush, here, there, and everywhere. Now I always hold on to the railing when going down the stairs. When carrying laundry up the stairs, I use the laundry basket and set it down two steps in front of me, walk up a step, move the basket up a step, etc. I have so many stairs in my house! Outside, we have cement stairs that are spiral, so they are narrow near the railings and wide further away. I used to fall down those all the time. Even though I am careful, they are treacherous when it snows or is icy. I wish we could afford to move...
