I didn't know there was such a thing!

This is good to hear and maybe a boost for fish oil. I would like to see more people take this. I like my nordic naturals. Not burping up fish, great product. Not sure if I would do the Rx variety. Lovaza is just concentrated esterified EPA and DHA; you can get the same thing from some of the fish oil capsules labeled as "fish oil concentrate."  They typically have far more DHA and EPA than a standard capsule, which has 300mg total EPA + DHA.  Most studies suggest an intake of 3 grams (3000mg) per day of EPA + DHA to achieve benefit for RA.  That would be 10 regular fish oil capsules.  Lovaza contains 840mg EPA + DHA per capsule, so you only have to take 4 of them to achieve the same benefit.  They also make claims of being highly purified, but analytical tests run on most commerically-available fish oil capsules today show no detectable contamination from heavy metals or other pollutants.  One other possible benefit of the lovaza product over regular fish oil capsules is the fact that they've reduced the amount of non-essential fats in it, so you'll take in fewer calories.  But seriously, 10 regular capsules is only 100 calories.  4 lovaza capsules will be 40 calories, for a savings of 60 calories per day.  I suppose that might matter to some folks.

I'm sure lovaza is a decent product, but you can get exactly the same benefit for MUCH less money by taking plain old fish oil capsules available at your local grocery.  According to drugstore.com, 120 Lovaza capsules sells for 2.  You've got to be kidding me.  I take enteric esterified fish oil concentrate capsules which have 750mg combined EPA + DHA, and they cost about for a bottle of 180 capsules.  I take 4 of these per day, for a total of 3000mg DHA + EPA.  Lovaza is a ripoff, and any doctor who tells you (or your insurance company) to pay for it rather spending less than per month on OTC fish oil is a moron.  In my opinion.
another good one.
