flare up after pregnancy | Arthritis Information

I have had two children, my first one when I was eighteen years old.   My pain was very slight during that pregnancy and I did not flare up too bad afterwards.  Now, I am 25 years old and have had my second child.  Just like the first one, I did not experience too much pain during pregnancy.  Now, six weeks after c-section, I have joint pain in each hand, wrist, swollen knees and pretty severe jaw pain the left and right sides. I have decided to go back to the Doc. and try to get back on enbrel.  Has anyone ever heard of this severe of a flare up after pregnancy, also is there any information about nursing my little one while taking enbrel???

My third son is now 13 weeks old and when he was 6 weeks old my entire body went into severe flare - every joint even my jaw bone killed and only now it is getting a bit easier.  My RA came on in my third pregnancy the day i became pregnant literally and couldn't take anything at all for it until i was 7 months and then they put me on pred as screaming in agony.  Im now on a mixture of things which i think are starting to work but can't manage without my daily 20mg dose of pred - they are the best for me !!!

Hope you wil be ok and start to feel better soon

I think my ra started 1 year before I gave birth to my son.  Like you, I had a c-section and went into a severe flare about 6 weeks after.  I went to a rheumatologist and he put me on MTX and suflasalazin, along with prednisone and a muscle relaxer.  I nursed my little guy as long as I could, but with MTx I had to stop pretty drastically.  Hope you are feeling better now.  Did you ever get on the Enbrel?  I wonder if there is a correlation between having a c-section and a severe flare???I had two c-sections had no problems after first but almost a year after having my second I came out of remision. I waited as long as possible to start any meds because I was breastfeeding. I waited two more months until she was a year old to stop. I wish you luck.
