If you think you have an ulcer you really ought to go to the doc.  It might be h. pylori-related, and that's easily treated (CURED!) with antibiotics and antacids.
I was also going to suggest eating some antibiotics, and for more than just ulcers! What about dairy products Snowowl?   My cows lovely creamy milk helps settle my guts when it's playing up.  I too love curries and spicy satays but have to drink some milk with them when I eat them.  I usually cook them twice a week.

I've been taking Losec each morning for many years to help my stomach problems which were created from being on gold tablets.   Recently the chemist, without informing me,  gave me a substitute for Losec (no doubt cheaper!)  and not only did it not help with eosophogas reflux and burning, it made me blimmin nauseous.  Had to give the bad chemist a ring and get him to courier out the real deal - I live in the country.
A breath test?  I can do that.  There have been studies suggesting that capsaicin (the hot in peppers) is not responsible for ulcers; in fact, it may actually prohibit their formation and protect the stomach.  Personally, I've never found capsaicin-rich foods to aggravate GERD symptoms.  Triggers for me are NSAIDs, tomato-based products, milk/dairy, chocolate (Oh well, the milk works for me.  It is also what I turn to when I get terrible oesophagus spasms.

I've been meaning to ask if any of you suffer from these?

The first time I had one of these spasms I was driving and had to pull over - I honestly thought I was having a heart attack and once it had subsided I turned the car around and went to my Dr.   She sent me for a few cardio tests but all was well.

The pain starts in the stomach area and increases as it rises up the oesophagus and doesn't stop till it gets to the face and jaw - it's horrendous pain.  Bending over too quickly often triggers it, as can the first few bites of a meal if I've not eaten for longer periods than normal, but sometimes it happens for no apparent reason.
Midgimoo, I get oesophagus problems, my pain starts in my back and goes into my stomach up my throat and into my jaw, I am on lanzaprazole and going for a camera down my throat ( urhh) on Monday,  I also get burning pains ( like severe hunger pains) in my stomach and I have been experiencing extreme nausea. First of all I thought  it was Hormonal problems as I get bad hot flushes too

I started to develop an ulcer last year after many years of NSAIDS.  It was really painful, and I felt nauseous and dizzy, like a heart attack!  My doctor took me off Mobic, and started me on Nexium for my stomach, plus Mylanta every two hours.  I was supposed to eat very small meals every two hours also, and drink lots of water.  I felt fine after a few days and didn't need antibiotic treatment.

If you are on heavy doses of Nsaids, this might be the problem.
Hope you will feel better soon.

My friend has ulcers and whenever they flare up she eat steamed cabbage.  She said it heals her stomach right up.
