Hi all,

Could anyone tell me if they have used the Lidoderm patch at all and if it helped?  I read about this patch on another forum.  Thanks a lot
Paula, I use them on lower back area, they are wonderful, and also shoulder area.

It's 12 hour on and 12 hours off , the instructions say

Hope you have a good prescription plan, because with insurance, it ran about for a box of 30..Without insurance it's about 0.00

The cortisone shot helped evenutally in my shoulder, but i really like them for the back areaI have some nerve damage on one area of my leg from an old surgery and they really help alot for this purpose. I've been using them for years and really like them for that reason. They are expensive; but worth it for this problem that at times can be extrememly painful. I pay a co-pay for a box like Linda gets.

I've also cut them and used them on my back, knees and hips. I don't use them as often for RA problems as I do for the nerve problem.

I also have used them on my lower back for a long time. I still must take my pain meds (methadone and dilaudid), but when the pain is overwhelming, I put some on my lower back to help a little. When the pain is that bad, I use anything in my arsenal that helps at all.

You can use up to 3 at a time, as Lovie said, 12 hrs. on and 12 off. You can cut them to fit just about anywhere. My doctor prescribes 3 per day so I get as much for my co-pay as possible. She knows I usually use 1 or 2 at a time.

If I remember correctly, they were originally prescribed for Shingles sufferers and proved very helpful.

Good luck, Linda. I hope they help you and that you have good insurance.

OOPS! sorry, that wasn't to Linda, was it? Although I still wish Linda good luck

I meant to say "good luck patandpaula"!
I was paying fifty bucks a box with insurance.  I liked them, however, became allergic to the adhesive. My doctor prescribes as much as you can take in a day too so I get three boxes at a time. Pretty good when I break it down that way I'm getting them for a box....and they are worth it to me.

I pay a copay for 3 boxes. They are nice because you can cut them up for different areas that are hurting. Now I am on Fentanyl patches and they are wonderful. It is for all over pain and i change it every three days. It's a very controlled substance though, so I really have to stay on top how many I have as my rheumy only comes to town once a week and I have to have a hard copy for the pharmacy. One time I ran out and my rheumy actually volunteered to drive where I live after work to give me a script. Not many drs would do that these days, especially since it's an hour and a half drive each way. These cannot be cut up!

Thanks to all of you for the info.  I got some tonite and am using them when I go to bed.  Thanks again all, I really really appreciate you input. They sound great. I am going to ask my rheumy on Monday when I see her. Do they have an odor or are they wet feeling?when you first put them on they are cold! but they warm up nicely and you don't even notice them. No odor at all...

Thx, do they work for 12 full hours?
If so, this is sounding better and better!
yes, for me they do. Let the shower wash them off and they will fill up and roll off you. better than pulling hairs out....I gotta get me some of that. LOL I hope she will prescribe them. Nervous about my first visit to her on Monday. I fired my old rheumy of 3 years. He was a jerk. He said you can't get ra in your back. After reading on this forum, I found there are lots of peeps with back problems. mine kind of said the same thing, but I really like his style and intend to keep him around. One think that irks me is my primary says I have every tender point for fibro and to tell my Rheumy. Well, rheumy does not believe in fibro. He says fibro is just untreated or undertreated rheumatoid arthritis. I don't care what it's called as long as he is making an attempt to get things under control.
