I was talking to two of my married friends who have pmr about your query.

They said 'their libido' disappeared with months of going on prednisolone, they don't know whether its the pmr or the medication.

So you are not alone.

We also got talking about putting on weight and the difficulty of 'wiping' your bottom.   This led to gales of laughter.   Thought you might like to share the laughter.  After all it only came about through your query.

i often wonder what this tire is that is around my belly!
i only weigh 4 lbs more than when i started the meds...but wow..it looks like i am 20lbs heavier..the distribution of weight is not pleasant.. (saying it lightly!)

so, ok, hot flashes, pain, no libido, fat in wierd and awful looking places, insomnia, depression,  ummm
know that there is light at the end of the tunnel..but i am straining my eyes looking!

thanks for the note!

To CathiB & mrs uk.... Yep, yep and yep.  But I will blame PMR. While I was on 10mg pred and feeling fine after months of s..t   libido was fine (after 42 years and still on 1st husband) . CathiB.. keep your eyes closed!  Mrs uk thanks for answering my question re bottom cleaning, I thought my arms had gotten shorter! We need more laughter!! LynCathiB and all,

I haven't been on here for quite a while because I have been free of PMR for almost 2 years now. Yay! But read your post about loss of libido. I have been suffering for a long time with achy joints and muscles, and lately have been so, so tired. Also severe lack of libido and other things that I chalked up to post-menopause (almost 9 years now). Was having hot flashes worse than before. Well, I was put on bio-identical hormones, mostly progesterone. That took care of the hot flashes, and a tiny improvement of libido, but not much and still major fatigue and the aches. My PCP had done a hormone panel, including a test for DHEA-Sulfate Serum. It showed I was very low on that, but we attributed most of my symptoms to estrogen dominance. However, since I was still having major fatigue and the muscle aches, she has now advised me to take DHEA supplements. I have read some good things about this. Only started today, but am hopeful it will "fix" the fatigue and low libido. I have been reading a lot about DHEA, and the reports are that women with low libido tend to have pretty low levels of  DHEA,( and it is not so much the other hormone levels that determine the low libido). You might ask your dr. to check your DHEA levels at next blood work. Hope this helps. Take care.
