i fell over today because my knee has started buckling underneath me - please tell me this is ok.  Also the tendons in my ankles feel like they are snapping or something - it was agony.  I went to er and told them that i was falling over and they said, that is unfortunate but there is nothing we can do take some pain killers.  I am really frightened that there is some major damage getting done now, could hardly walk today.

any responses very welcome because i'm freaking out.

GOODNESS Friend....I hope you are ok.  I am so sorry that you fell. I know how painful your knee's must be feeling right now and how scared you must have felt.  Did they take any xrays?

I will try not to be the bearer of bad tidings...but.

I fell on both my knee's last May... NO xrays where taken... and after the sweeling went down and a year passed, they started to hurt.  Now, they ache more than before the fall....I can't help but think OA has found a nice cozy spot to lay around in.  And guess what?  Still no xrays have been taken...

SOOOOOOOOOO, tell them you want some xrays taken, cause it could possibly cause problems down the road and having the xrays, will show just how much damage may have happend to your knee's because of the fall and then again, there may not be any damage to them...It's just a toss of the coin as to what may happen.   The main thing is, to get you to stop shaking all over and to tone down any pain you may be feeling...REST those knee's...as much as you can and use warm moist heat and if that does not seem to work try, using a old sock filled with rice that has the end tied off, that has been frozen...makes it a lot easier to mold around the knee's and the rice holds the cold for sometime...

I hope your knee's start feeling better real soon and your nerves are back to normal...LOL.

LAt us know how you are doing.

Julie,

i went thorugh the knee buckling for about three months. I would be walking along or standing and would almost fall. It was my right knee that was buckling. I actually fell on the PE teacher at school and almost frightened her to death. I was so embarrassed.

After two cort shots in 2001 the knee is almost perfect. At one time my ortho was thing about an arthroscopy on it, but fortunately the shots were all that I needed. I can actually sit all the way back on my knees now and before I could barely bend the right one.
