It is my opinion that we all respect others opinions in regards to the election. I will no longer open the current events or other anti Obama threads as the discussion has gotten ugly at times. Lorster, it's wheel spinning from the same few members. The way I see it, if people really had a solid moral perogative with their candidate they wouldn't have to smear and spread lies about the one they don't want. It's the dirty underbelly of the right wing. What do you expect?Lorster,

Ugly has never ever been a reason for you to not open and/or engage in ugly and you have been the author of ugly many times over. Eveyone that has been here for any length of time knows that to be true. The only time you quit is when what is posted that you disagree with is so true, that even you won't try to argue it. It's just that simple.

LEV
Lorster, I think Lev is trying to get your attention. How cute!

???? I'm just curious why you thought you should make this announcment.  You must have known it would stir the pot.  You can't do things like this if you don't want people to notice the stench coming from your own underbellies.

It's only hateful when you point out flaws in liberal candidates, especially if they're from your area.  It's perfectly acceptable to bash conservative candidates and their families, especially if you've not heard of them before.

Jeez link - get with the program!J-Rain, well, that works for me!I rest my case. (This seems particularly hostile since I haven't said anything about "conservative" candidates of this election on this forum). Oh well, as long as you have "DONN" for company I guess resorting to dirty tactics it feels good.

MMmmmmmm.....DONN.

Jas~well, if anyone can school us on hate, it's you.  What with that oversized haters brain and all.

I haven't read any bashing of conservative candidates' families on this forum

No Hug today Lorster. Glad to see your friend ( I guess ) had to come to your rescue. I was thinking how nice it had seemed around here for awhile and then I realized it. Gag is back ! Nice to hear from you again. Look out DONN !
P.S. Lev, I hope your getting all of Lorsters " respectfull posts " together. I'm an administrator of another forum about relationships. We have a variety of sections that don't really pertain to the theme of the site. We wanted to provide a place where those who enjoyed the site would feel comfortable posting about other topics.

But, after years of fighting amongst members, too many complaints to even count, and members who would leave in anger, we finally decided it just was not worth it and we stopped allowing threads about politics or religion. Some people just do not know how to discuss an issue without turning it into a personal attack against an individual or a group (ex. democrats or republicans). In my experience, I've found that some people would rather be right than to allow others the right to their own opinions. If anyone wants to discuss politics, there are plenty of places on the internet to do so. Since we stopped allowing them, the forum is finally living in peace and we've been able to get back to the real reason the forum exists, to offer relationship support.

This is what I was thinking. Instead of trying to fight about which candidate is the best and which is not, lets just fight about fighting about it. What do you think Lev? I don't think Barak would be happy watching you fold up like this,Lorster. What a strange thread. Starting a "Political Thread" because you didn't like the way another thread was going so you thought you'd start it over here? Strange indeed. That's exactly what this board needed another argument thread. Fantastic!I don't usually contribute to these political threads but I do read them. I see them as a window into the minds of voters.

And boy does it freak me out.
I'm an administrator of another forum about relationships. We have a variety of sections that don't really pertain to the theme of the site. We wanted to provide a place where those who enjoyed the site would feel comfortable posting about other topics.

Well lets see KLM. You have 11 posts here so I guess your a newbie. That said you decide what we should be posting and not posting. Arrogant comes to mind. Sit back and listen a while. There is much good info here regarding our RA. We also talk of Family, politics etc. Ya know stuff that happens in our lives. It's really easy and I would guess as an administartor you would know. If you don't like a thread don't read it. So stop pontificating and welcome to AI

klm - welcome aboard - the best part of these political debates is it helps the newcomers to find out who are the racist, sexist, misogynistic haters of their fellow Americans and RA sufferers on this Board.  Their hatred is so profound, they turn on themselves sometimes, which is hilarious.

Then when they offer their expertise on RA, you know you cannot believe them, as their hatred of anyone who has an opinion other than their own is right here in front of you to read.  My personal ignore list grows every day.  Good luck with your auto-immune journey, as we are all on the same boat, and just look out for the posters in here that wish you bad luck and would throw you overboard first chance they get.  Take care ~~ Cathy

Lorster,

I'm not going back and re-reading all the posts looking for ugly but I will say that the only real ugly I remember came from the "Liberal Chat" thread and you didn't memtion that one. A member corrected something that had been posted on the "Liberal Chat" thread and JSNM attacked her and told her to stay off of the "Liberal Chat" thread. And then JSNM called others haters on another thread. Hey, everyone knows JSNM and her bias and how she gets ugly when someone says something against her democrats, you know, big deal. Do I  believe that you won't open those threads you mentioned? Sure I do if your computer crashes and all the public librarys burn down. I mean really, do you come here for RA information? What percentage of your posts are RA related and what percentage are o/t? You can put on a costume trying to be something you're not but underneath the costume, you are still Lorster.
Kim,

Is your forum as successful as this forum? This is the number one arthritis forum on the net. How many members do you have? How many visitors per day? How many posts per day? Maybe you should take a lesson from this very successful forum and be a little more wide open rather than trying to be "Mommy" to all of your members. Those forums usually always go no-where becoming just a small "family" forum. But thanks for your input.

LEV
I rest my case.We should all try to be more of a lover type like LevLarry, I say!JSNM....do you froth at the mouth when you go on those frenzied rants?  Cuz I think you got spit all over my computer screen.
Lorster; I can't thank you enough for eggin this on.
JSNM....do you froth at the mouth when you go on those frenzied rants?  Cuz I think you got spit all over my computer screen.
ROFLMAO
KLM, You are the one that suggested WE all go somewhere else to disuss politics. That was after 11 posts here. Sorry but comes off as a bit arrogant. That said, stay contribute and enjoy. AS I said this is a great site for us all. Ignore the posts you don't like. Pretty simple reallyLorster; I can't thank you enough for eggin this on.

Yeah, what you said
I love people who ANNOUNCE what they aren't going to do anymore thru an ANNOUNCEMENT
KLM, You are the one that suggested WE all go somewhere else to disuss politics. You need to go back and re-read my post. At no point did I tell ANYONE what they should/should not do.  My post count has nothing to do with the point I was trying to make.  I merely shared a practice that we follow on another board that seems to work to maintain peace, that's all.

You'll find pretty quick around here that AI isn't exactly like other boards. That's likely why we have such a high membership. We sort of like it this way.

Welcome.

Correct and in reading it again it's pretty clear you would like this site to be like yours No Politics as you so subtley suggested which is what I said
P.S. And it will likely Not be like your site ( whatever it is  ) So stay and learn or leave. Your choiceWow, I can see that no matter what, you are the type of person who sees things through a narrow perspective and isn't willing to actually listen to anyone else.

As a senior member, you still have much to learn about how to make a new person feel welcome.

KLM, I've said welcome and also gave you some good advice for a newbie. Not much more I can say. Sit back and as I've said 3 times already, this site is a wealth of info. Stop with the Drama Queen stuff. Hard to beleive you have a " relationship " site. You have much to learn as a newbie if you decide to stay. You should. Best RA site around
I just came off of 39 hours of work this past three days. Totaly sucked. But I want to let everyone know how proud I am that we all managed to fight and not once did any of the political candidates get mentioned. This may be a great thread. I hope that everyone got some pain relief out of getting all this pent up anger off your chests. Truly therapeutic.
