Got My Test Results | Arthritis Information

Well I got my test results yesterday and Rheumatoid factor is: 2089.2 IU/ML (my gawd!!!)

He got me the paperwork to see a Rheumy.  He said fill them out immediately and send it in.  He said they promised him as soon as they receive my paperwork they will get me in right away.   There's like 10 pages of paperwork to fill out.

He said I don't have diabetes and my lungs, kidneys, heart and blood are good.  He said I have perfect cholestrol readings.  My blood pressure was high as it was last week when he first saw me and prescribed the lowest dosage of BP med for me to take.   I'm so depressed by that because I understand once you start taking BP med you can never stop.  I think it is high because of all the inflammation in my body and I wish he wouldn't put me on med right now.

He gave me copies of all my tests and told me to keep a copy for my self and take a copy to the Rheumy with me.

Well I'm on the road to somewhere.
Oh and I asked him if he could give me something to gain weight.   He said he's sure my weight will come back after I get this RA under control. [QUOTE=Aleva]Well I got my test results yesterday and Rheumatoid factor is: 2089.2 IU/ML (my gawd!!!) Really Jasmin,  that makes me feel so much better.  I read somewhere on line yesterday that you couldn't stop BP med once you start.  I'm so glad you told me that.  I'm sure I can get back to where I was once I get treated.  Thank you so much for telling me that. I've seen it happen with my own father.  He cleaned up his act a bit and was able to drop one of his BP meds.

Do you take NSAIDs for pain/inflammation?  They can raise blood pressure when taken every day.
not only can the nsaids increase blood pressure but so can pain levels..so don't get too stressed about the bp meds
I don't know about BP; but I agree with what he said about the weight. Once you get that under control your weight will increase. I've had problems with weight loss during increased disease activity. My BP is also high and I am on a med. However I noticed (I take my BP 2x a day morning and evening) that when I was on Prednisone and was feeling better the BP got really low, so I am wondering if it is in part caused by the pain and stress of whatever is wrong with me.

Aleva- My BP is so good as of late my RD suggested I ask my GP to discontinue my BP meds- so it can be done. I also lost a lot of weight during a high disease activity period and could not gain an ounce. I got better and I gain all + more!!!!

OOPS- and great news that a lot of you is doing good! Like you said you are on the road to something now- best of luck that they can get you on the right meds and make you better!Do a quick search on Google, they are looking for people with high RF's and will pay you for your blood.  Good money too.

And while that's a high number, there is a girl on the Roadback with a RF of 7400.  Last I saw, she was down to 2K and still coming down.  According to my doc, a high RF is your body is fighting like hell to beat the disease - so don't be depressed.

Pip
Oh thank you guys so much.  I am on naproxen and maybe that is why my BP is so high.  I don't feel bad at all now about going on the BP med.   I like what your doc said about the high RF means my body is fighting like hell and I want to do all I can to help it.  I'm really getting excited about my 1st visit to Rheumy and upcoming treatment.  Thank you so much everyone!Good Luck at the rheumys!

And that IS a BIG #!!

Please keep us posted.Wow, that RF is impressive.  Make me feel better about my measley 657 : )  Did they run an anti ccp??Your blood pressure could also be high because of how active your disease is.  Hypertension is one of those lovely auto immune types of things.  When your RF comes down your blood pressure might also come down as well.  I never had hypertension until I developed RA.  My rheumy and family practice dr. both think it is one of those lovely spin off auto immune things from the RA.  So there is hope yet for you to not be on the high BP meds! Wow, I don't know.  What is that?  I feel like a freak with such a high RF.

Question: What is Anti-CCP? What Does Anti-CCP Indicate?

What is anti-CCP? What does anti-CCP indicate? When is it appropriate to have this test? Does anti-CCP determine if a patient has rheumatoid arthritis?

Answer:

What is anti-CCP?

Anti-CCP, which stands for anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody, is a new and exciting blood test to help doctors confirm a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis.

  • Guide To Rheumatoid Arthritis

When is it appropriate to have this test? Does anti-CCP determine if a patient has rheumatoid arthritis?

Anti-CCP is a very useful test to order during the diagnostic evaluation of a person who may have rheumatoid arthritis. If present in such a patient at a moderate to high level, it not only confirms the diagnosis but also may indicate that the patient is at increased risk for damage to the joints. (Low levels of this antibody are less significant.) In the past, doctors relied on another antibody, the rheumatoid factor (RF) to help confirm a diagnosis.

  • What does anti-CCP indicate?

While the rheumatoid factor is more common in rheumatoid arthritis patients, many patients with a positive test do not have rheumatoid arthritis. Furthermore, the presence of the rheumatoid factor has less prognostic significance than the CCP. Of interest is that if your rheumatoid factor is negative, you are less likely to have a positive CCP. Both blood tests are recommended in the initial evaluation of a patient with suspected rheumatoid arthritis.

I hope this helps!!!  And don't feel like a freak.................everyone presents in their own way.  Some are sero positive, some sero negative.  You seem to be positive!!!

  • dont' panic about your rh factor being so high.

I have known people with it over 2,000 who are almost perfect, just a finger or wrist hurting, yet i know people with less than 100 who can't even stand up and hurt everywhere.

It is/isn't good that you have a factor, it will make it so much easier to get you started on medication.  Bad because you have RA, good because you have proof.

I wish you well and quick recovery with proper meds.

    God bless.
Yeah the thing is I'm not in a lot of pain.  My hands however are getting deformed and I limp when I walk because my ankle hurts when I walk.  If I am sitting still or lying down I don't even feel like I have RA.  I'm not even as tired as I use to be.  I don't know about this crazy disease.
