OT had a call to vote early | Arthritis Information

I think this is weird.  Do you?

Had a phone call from an out of state number from someone representing a Presidential Candidate (I will keep this non-partisan).

I am registered 'no party affiliation', so there was no reason for the caller to assume I was a supporter of The Candidate.  The caller used my name (well, mispronounced as Susannah).

The caller said early voting was starting soon, and I should go ahead and vote for the Candidate.  The caller said if I still had questions about where the Candidate stood on any issues, she would give me a number to call and they would tell me, but otherwise, just go ahead a vote early because they want to get an idea "you know, how it's going."

Nobody knows the results of early voting before election day, do they?  I didn't ask that, though.  I said the only reason I would vote early was if I was going to be out of town.
I've gotten bizarre mailings from out-of-town as well - one in particular offered to register me to vote... under my maiden name!!!  I gave that one to our county clerk.  I don't know what, if anything came of it.

While my mind is made up for the pres/vice pres vote, I am still undecided on a number of local races and I will spend the next month and a half trying to decide which candidates to vote for.

Exactly.  Guess they are trying to reach people who only vote every four years.
Oh and news flash for the anti-GOP folks here - as is the case with every election, I will not be voting along party lines.  There has not been an election in which I have voted a straight-party ticket.  If I don't like either candidate, or I don't know anything about them, I will leave that choice blank rather than just vote based on party affiliation, sex, race, or any other issue. The local dems and GOP also push for early voting amongst their supporters at every race, at least in these parts.  They want the voters to go in and vote along party lines with no consideration for the candidates themselves.
Campaign's make calls none stop encouraging people to get out and vote early. The more chances people have to get out and vote the more they are likely to vote at all. Both parties will have their sights set on independent voters. They may just be the vote that makes the difference. You can count on getting lots of those calls this years....even more of them than those of us that are registered with a particular party. I vote early. It's so easy! You have more time to get there when it suits your schedule and rarely will you see a line! The lines on elections day this year are going to be unreal! And no; they won't know the results of who has voted but they will know the results of how many from what party have voted early.

Both campaigns are out to get those folks that aren't registered as well as those that need to update their registrations. The more people they get registered.....the more voters they stand to gain. There will be people voting in this elections that have never voted before and I'm not just talking about the young voters. There are elderly folks that have never even wanted to vote that will be anxious to vote this election.

I'm too scared to vote for anybody in any race early, in case they get caught with a hooker or something and I've already voted LOL.
I'm too scared to vote for anybody in any race early, in case they get caught with a hooker or something and I've already voted LOL.
LOL - yep, the week before the election is when the candidates' mistresses (and male equivalents - is there a name for them???), "business partners" and other partners in crime tend to spill the beans!!!

Suzanne, I believe they don't start processing absentee ballots, counting votes, until the polls close on election day.

On election day, exit polls are done to get an early idea how the votes are going, but with more and more folks voting absentee, it isn't always a good prediction of race outcomes.
