Both my hands hurt but it's not the knuckles, it's the top of the hands between the wrists and the knuckles, when I grab something, or try to lift something I get this sharp pain.
What I don't understand is why, I thought RA affected the joints? This has been going on for about 3 weeks now, I asked my doctor but he never addressed this he just changed the subject to meds and we never got back to it!
Any Ideas?
Oh, that's nasty.  That area swells up on me pretty often.  Very painful.  RA affects tendons and tendon sheaths as well as joints, so I just chalk itnup to that.  Never asked my Rd about it though, so I guess I don't really know for sure.  Hope they get better soon.I used to get that a lot before the AP kicked in. There's lots of little bones in hands and feet and at the ends of each one it's a joint. Just look at a skeleton.

Also, RA affects more than just joints. It's all part and parcel with this affliction. There are lots of little bones in there, right?  And tendons.OK thanks!

Tendonitis.....Thats waht I get more then anything. Sucks I know

RA ought to be called rheumatoid disease instead of arthritis. It would do a better job of getting the idea across that it is a systemic disease that affects way more than joints. Lots of deformities stem from the destruction of the attachment sites for tendons and ligaments. I think even RD's forget that some times.

Is there a med other then MTX and Pred , for these Tendonitis  flare up?

That's where my hands hurt every day.I've had several cortisone shots by my hand specialist in the area you are talking about.  Each time it's been because of inflammation in the tendons located there.[QUOTE=marian]

Pred seems to work the best
That is where I hurt and swell the most. I have a parraffin was thing I bought at walmart that I use and it feels so good. When I go for pedicures they use a different one for my feet that feels heavenly!
