I just wanted to tell everyone, I was diagnosed with PMR in January, with debilitating pain, couldnt even lift covers off in the morning. Prednisone helped tremendously, but still felt some pain. Bad swelling in fingers and hands ankles and knees, doc said I had RA also. I was on Pred and Methotrexate. Last week I started Minocycline and got off Methotrexate and this is the best I have felt in long time, I even cleaned the house a little today. I am taking Mino three times a week, off the Meth totally and down to 2mg daily of Pred. Just wanted to share my experience. Also last week tested positive for C. Pneumonia. Now I have never had pneumonia that I KNOW of, so this is strange that this nasty little mycoplasma has been floating around for who knows how long? Dont know if that caused all this or not, but I am definitely better with the antiobiotic. Hi- I have had over 12 months with PMR - got of pred finally but then had a flareup after another flu like illness. Was finally prescribed an antibiotic and felt better than I had felt for the last 2 years I reckon. Still have PMR but much much more managable - so yes, makes me think that an underlying infection could make it all worse.
