Do we have AI friends in Texas? | Arthritis Information

I can't think of anyone right off....but who in our AI family if anywhere in TX? My heart goes out to those folks this morning. What a disaster. We're not getting many pictures out of TX yet since it's so bad but it's enough to see it's horrible.

Praying for the safety of those in Texas today.
Blessedd is in Texas.I think an old AI member is in Texas.....Crunchy?????I have an L.A. friend whose daughter is in Houston.  They evacuated 3 years ago with her husband's 100 year old grandmother.  Hope they are O.K. this time.My husband's family is all in Texas. I haven't been able to contact my father-in-law in East Texas because the phones are out. I'm praying that they are all okay. Sounds like things are very bad but no one was killed. Maybe a lady by a tree? Just got in so I haven't had a chance to se much yet. My husband and I watched it for hours last night. He's a storm chaser. Not really, but he's a weather watcher. He works outside so his business depends on knowing the forecast.Lovie, we have had coverage here on all our news channels and with the time difference and not being able to sleep i have been watching, its so sad when you see so many homes under water, all those years of a house belonging to a family, it was their home, a place where someone has brought up a family. We did watch a piece on a woman who gave birth to a little girl in a storm shelter bathroom and a doc in geriatric phsychiatry delivered the baby.
I hope those who need help get it soon
I really hate it for these folks. I think maybe I'm going to try to set up a disaster relief effort at my office. I'm an office manager of an office that sits right on the corner in a busy little town.

If I had a large sign out that said Hurricane Ike relief collections I bet I could have a pretty good pounding. I might could even get someone to donate the shipping.

If it was here and we had to leave go stay somewhere else I would be broke in a VERY short period of time. I can't imagine.
Hi everyone!! My granddaughter lives in Galveston. I pray that she is safe. My cousin and his wife had to go to the cancer center in Houston for his chemo. They had an apple and water for dinner yesterday at a shelter. My prayers for everyone. bless their hearts, I'm glad they are safe, but I hope they get a little more substance today, even a pot of soup is easy and can feed many... I will be praying for all involved.prayers for all- man what a year for hurricaines!I was just watching it on Fox & Friends. It's really bad. The news reporter in Galveston said he had a peanut butter sandwich last night but nothing since....not even water. You could see a few people walking around; but it wasn't many. Hopefully the majority of the folks there left because there's hardly anything there that didn't get hit extremely bad.

Milly; I hope your family is alright. Keep us updated as you hear from them.
I'm in the thick of it and it is a big mess.  These people need your thoughts and prayers. Anybody that lived near a body of water is flooded.  Millions are without electricity and there is no gas or food available.
We are lucky, we have minor damage and we are one of the few that have elec.  The ones that evacuated from the area are not allowed back in and are nervous about the condition of their property.
I reccommend you call your local red cross, if you want to help.  Houston stood before the world like a shining light and helped most of the Katrina victims and now they need help.

Peace
LuAnn:)
Where are you located Stem? Glad you and your family are safe.deleted location..... stemcell4me2008-09-14 22:19:34Help and prayers are on the way. The biggest fear is getting help to so many in time. I hope you have some food put back. Keep us posted.Oh gracious Stem; that is a bad area. Were you really, really afraid when the storm came through? I remember when Hugo came in 89. It was the middle of the night and the trees were blowing so bad they were touching the ground. All the power was out so it was pitch black outside. It was very scary and we are atleast three hours from the coast in NC & SC. Winddancer-

Prayers for your dad!!!!! and you.
We found a grocery store open and stocked up. People just wandering around in shock. Was able to get all my favorites foods because no one shops in organic.  They pulled out frozen stock of product ie fruit got oranges, apples, peaches etc.
We are good to go before masses start to return.  Our schools are closed until further notice.  I feel like I'm in an Orson Wells movie, it is so surreal.
Jan- I spoke to my father-in-law late last night and they are doing fine. Ike rolled right through their little town and left behind a lot of rain and felled trees. Thanks for thinking of us!
