MY LAST VISIT WITH MY REGULAR DOCTOR, HE DECIDED TO GIVE ME A MORE "SOPHISTICATED" BLOODTEST CALLED THE IGG TEST. MY RF RESULTS WERE BORDERLINE AND ARE NOW HE SAYS NORMAL. MY NEXT VISIT TO MY RD WILL BE OCT. 24 AND SHE SAID SHE WILL GIVE ME OTHER TESTS. EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT THAT BAD I NOTICE THAT MY MY ELBOWS WILL ACHE WHEN I REST ON THEM, OR HURT ONLY WHEN I DO AN EXERCISE THAT INVOLVES THEM.  MY KNEES HAVE BEEN ACTING FUNNY, GETTING SOMETIMES STIFF, AND I CAN GO FOR A FEW DAYS, WITH THEM BOTHERING ME ESP WHEN GOING DOWN OR UP STAIRS. IS IT NORMAL WITH RA IN THE BEGINNNIGN, TO FEEL ALMOST A BURNING ACHEY FEELING IN YOUR JOINTS BESIDES PAIN? HOPEFULLY MY RD DOCTOR WILL BE ABLE TO GIVE ME MORE ANSWERES NEXT TIME I SEE HER.

I can definitely relate to what you are feeling.  Although I have RA and fibromyalgia, I can remember noticing the very same things that you are noticing now.  My hands, elbows, hips, knees, and neck all are stiff and popping/crackling.  I feel that my PCP took too long to refer me to my rheumy and that's why my RA progressed so rapid.  However, my rheumy did take the aggeressive approach.  Hopefully, your rheumy will take immediate action before you notice it worsening.  Always communicate any changes that you may notice, no matter how trivial they may seem.

Hi Joycee, Ebony and Merry,

I to have RA and have the same things going on with me..The popping and the cracking is kinda of nerve rakking...

I noticed that Merry and Ebony mentioned taking the Methotrexate, 6 days in a row. I took the MTX once a week.  I find that interesting as I have a friend that was just DX'd and her Rheumy told her to take her dose of MTX over the span of 3 days.  This is surprising me, as I always heard it was taken once a week or could be split in 2 doses in one day.  I would think that the spread out of the MTX could make the side effects easier to handle.  Has it?

Joycee;

Are they testing you for Lupus?   I think the IgG test is the one they use to see if Lupus is present.  I am not in the medical field so I can't say that is for sure but I think I remember reading something like that.

Ebony;

How is the Arthrotec working for you?  I am on some new medications and it is beginning to take a toll on stomach.  Not to long after eating, I seem to end up in the bathroom with cramping pains in my stomach, making me feel like I have to go to bathroom and then they start getting more and most excruciatingly painful until I end up with a case of spasmodic diarrhea.  I am getting to the point that I don't want to eat so I don't have t go through that.  Is this what happened to you for them to put you on Arthrotec?  Does the Arthrotec seem to be helping you with your pain too.

I hope you ladies have a great weekend.

Merry, make sure to take your folic acid.  One week I forgot to put it in my weekly pill box, that next dose of methotrexate was horrible.  I recheck my box now!  Much better!  SusanSusan I stopped taking folic acid 2 wks ago My old rhuemy changed my metho to 1 pill 6 days a weel. I am worried that the folic acid will make the metho not work as I was told to never take folic acid with metho cause it slows the metho down. My ra is progressing very quickly  my gp is sending me to a new rhuemy next fri a better one. I am not going to take folic acid till I see him. I get thses horrible travling flares that go through2or 3 joints a week the pain is terrible and then I have the everyday pain of fingers and toes today I could not open my hand up. and also I have sjogrens syndrom so I really do not want to do anything that will make me worse I just have to make it to next fri......TERESA
