Darn Prednisone! | Arthritis Information

I have not been able to sleep since starting this pred flare taper. It is doing wonders for my hands and other body parts, but sleep is non-exsistant. I try to make myself go to sleep, but nothing... my mind will not shut off. And once I do fall asleep.... I get woke up and then I go another hour or 2 trying to fall back to sleep.

I just wish I could talk myself into cleaning the house when I cannot sleep. I am afraid it will make my hip hurt worse. And I cannot bend over it makes my lower back spasm.... VERY PAINFUL! Then if I fall.... everyone else is asleep. So... I am thinking not a good idea.

I think I am going to try to clean the house a little when I wake up, when son wakes up. Heck with worrying about being in pain, it has been a good week pain wise, so I guess I can take the pain for cleaning the house the way I like it cleaned!

well.. I am off to bed, typing is making my should blades burn again! I want my nortriptyline bumped back up to 80mg! This should blade burning ctap is just that crap!

Ok... I am offf!
Aww Joonie I know how you feel! I am a borderline insomniac and having Pred sure doesnt help. What time of day do you take it? I learned the hard way that it needs to be in the morning but when I forget (

This doesnt work either.

Take care, and I do love your posts. With all you go through you are a bright light. Long may that continue.

Problem with that prednisone insomnia is that your body is tired but your mind is not! Do you like to read? That's what I used to do- get the heck out of bed instead of laying there will my eyeballs peeled open in the dark and I would read until I felt my brain was tired enough to try again....I'm at 4 mg and have a pretty good nights sleep. Higher doses tend to wake me up during the nightI've been on everything from 2.5mg to 20 mg in the last year and like Lyndee have found taking n the morning is key.

Good Luck
