OT: Cardiologist Called | Arthritis Information

My cardiologist's office called this morning, at 8:45am. CRAZY!

Anyways... I am going to have an echo bubble test done on the 25th.

I googled what the "bubble test" was exactly and it seems it looks for a hole in your heart. And is used to help detect if you had a TIA.

OMG!!! That procedure has a lot of needles involved! One site says up to 7 different times a needle is used!!!!

Well.... maybe I should just throw this out there...

I had a heart murmur when I was born. My mom was not sure if it had closed or not. She told me about this back when my son was first born, because he has a rapid heart rate too, has since he was in my tummy.

So... maybe the heart murmur did not close up and is still open? According to what I read it makes it easier for a blood clot to pass thru the heart and bypass the lungs and go straight to the brain.

Anyways... I would like to know if anyone else has had this test done. It would be greatly appreciated... if someone would tell me it does not involve THAT many needles!

Ok, I found a website that says they hook ya up to an IV for all the injecting they have to do. So.... now I have a 50-50 chance of it not being an IV and that many needles!

They are going to give me more samples of Bystolic, since it has to be PAed, and no telling how long that can take to get approval.

My nuclear lung scan was normal. My chest x-ray was normal. And the MRI of my hip/thigh/pelvis arrived today for him to review. BUT he is going to a conference tomorrow so... I will not hear anything about that until next week maybe.

Oh and my RD appt is on the 24th. Man... so much new to tell her. I know I will forget things. Heck I have already forgot some stuff LOL! Just ask me what I forgot and I will tell you I do not remember.

Bubbly Boob Moon... too bad my boobs are not "bubbly".
Well I am glad to hear your lungs checked out good.  And hopefully this test will be easy and quick!I'm glad you got some good results too! Best of luck on your test- hope there are not too many needles involved! Let us know how you make out.Fingers crossed for no needles!  Hope everything goes well next week!!I will be thinking of you Joonie.  Try not to worry too much about it because after it is all over, you will know what is wrong and I am sure it can be corrected or treated.

Huggin ya!
Hi Joonie! Just wondering...is it a transesophageal echo (TEE) that you'll be having done on the 25th? If so, don't worry about the needles. They will start an IV, and the bubbles will be injected from a two-way syringe into the IV port. While the bubbles are going through the venous system, they will be looking for a atrial-septal or ventricular septal defect...or hole, as you call it. They also give you sedation (usually Versed and Demerol) for the test, so it really won't be that bad. Hang in girl....you'll do fine! And HOPEFULLY you'll finally get some answers.
