Jaw pictures follow wrist piccies. The first three are before the steroid pack. The last one is from Monday, after the last steroid day. All the swelling isn't gone. There is some on the left side but obviously mostly on the right. I think it's better today, it's harder to detect. Good thing is that the worst of it was on the weekend, and I'm new at my job so no one said anything...they were probably afraid that my face looks like that all the time and I'd be insulted if they said anything!

Ouch!!WoW that is some swelling of the jaw! I know that's gotta hurt. My jaw has only been affected 1 time. woke up 1 morn and couldn't open to wide. very annoying. hope you find relief soon.OMGoodness, katie.. that looks very painful.

Katie that Jaw looks really sore, I have started getting swelling there ( not that bad though) and the pain is excrutiating.Wow, Katie...your jaw looks so painful! I get pain in my jaw, but I've never had swelling like that.Wow, I get swelling sometimes when I wake up. Just wake up with it.........no pain. Katie, I added you as a friend too. Hi Katie, thanks for posting your pix. Just wanted to share that I too have had the same swelling for the past few weeks. My hubby was the first to notice it as I don't get any pain in that area. I really only look in a mirror if I'm applying my eyelashes (mascara) to go out in public. It hurts my eyes to see my round steriody face
I wonder if mine is caused through the Humira. I started this med 10 months ago. Jaw problems is something my Rheumy's worry about constantly. It is really odd that there's no pain tho.
There is a difference between steriod swelling and RA swelling. RA hurts. When you get RA in your jaw it hurts to eat. But both make us feel bad. I liked my face before RA. I want my old face back. I really miss it. I get all of it. My saliva glands swell also. I look like a chipmunk. The glands under my jaw swell and hurt. Took me awhile to fiqure out what it was. Good old fasion pamplets from the RD on Sjorgren's. I thought it was lymph nodes and i had cancer because it hurt so bad and wouldn't go away. Now it comes and goes. Wow! I had never heard that Milly. My glands in my neck swell a lot. The doctors always dismiss it. I can tell a huge difference in my face. I haven't been dx sjorgrens but my opth. said I definitely have very dry eyes. But he said that is common with a lot of arthritisWell make sure your RD knows about the dry eyes. Yes Katie, tell your Rheumy about your dry eyes. I have Sjogren's and take salagen for it. I also drink lots of water (though not nearly enough) and suck on hard candies or mints. I like the little sour ones in the metal round tins, just cant remember the name. Early on, I always chewed sugarless gum, but it caused my jaws to be sore. Duh, it took Rheumy to tell me that. I also have eye drops for during the day and gel for at night. It's probably the hardest of all my illnesses to control.
