I havent been on medication long, but is it supposed to hurt so much while on medication? I mean i know i need to wait a while before it kicks in fully, but i wasnt expecting this must pain.avatar, I feel for you and understand where you are at right now, i have been there. it took me a good 1.5 years to become stable, but others feel better in just a few months. Hang in there, know that you will feel better, when ?No one can predict. I had the best summer i was finally feeling normal, but i have a flare right now,and am so let down. I really thought i had won this disease. Sorry i dont mean to depress you, and i am still trying to come to term with this crappy ctuff myself.  What meds are you taking?

It takes time for meds to work.  Mine took awhile and my rheumy was really good about checking if my pain level was in check.  When I told her that I couldn't come close to completely my daily routine she prescribed meds which took the edge off.  I learned to slow down and even take an occasional nap (even though it was recommended to take a nap every day).  Instead I would just take breaks throughout the day which helped with pain and stress levels of dealing with the disease.  Things have got better but I know that can change at any moment so I take it a day at a time.  Just keep going back to the rheumy until you get some relief.  Takes a little time to get the right mix of meds.avatar. what meds are you taking? MethotrexateHow much mtx? shots or pills? I am on that also, i had to go off for about a month because my lab work was not normal, i am back on it.,it really works for me. i am also on enbrel. But if you dont feel thit it is helping soon, tell your rheumy, so he can add a tnf inhibiter, I waited so long to see if mtx would work by itself, this is why it took me so long to feel better. Now i am on the right amount. avatar, i also felt worse when i started the medication, it seems as though your body is fighting the meds. Believe me when I tell you that it takes time.  I started biologics and dmards four years ago and just achieved clinical remission 6 months ago.  If meds aren't working then they need to be changed, or doses adjusted.   You also need to be kind to yourself.  Keep us posted on how you're doing.  Lindy
