Anonymity can turn nice people nasty | Arthritis Information

Somehow this article seemed particularly appropriate for this forum...and not OT either

Wow, that article is terribly pertinent.  I can see some of myself in that article.  I bet we all can..........I'm actually meaner in person LOL.   Ask hubby. LOL Suzanne.  buckeye, great article.  That's one reason why I am so open about myself and anyone could find me if they needed to, but respect others anonymity.  It is amazing how a gang of posters stalk other posters and just have to post a negative to everything the stalked poster posts.  Online stalkers.  Please, go volunteer at a homeless shelter or something if you don't have anything better to do.  If you think about it, maybe if it keeps someone from going out and killing their neighbor, hitting their children, or any other abuse that could occur in real life, it is a good thing. Good point Lori.  tell that to 13 year Megan Meier who committed suicide after an adult used the anonimity of myspace to bully and torment her.

Bullying is bullying and there is no excuse for that.  Especially from an adult who should know better.
Exactly -

And when we allow this stuff to continually happen, we're as bad as the tormentors.  The part I liked about this article is that it said exactly what I said to our resident bully - the Internet has changed and white hats can now hunt you down and expose you.  So, be careful what you post if you don't want your mother, your kids, your boss, your co-workers etc. knowing what you post.

I work for a call center for a company that owns and operated apartment communities. I do sales as well as service calls. I do live web chats, emails and phone calls. This article is sooo true. If I ever spoke to people the way they do to me online as well as the phone I couldn't live with myself. The language people use... OMG.

I try and exercise restraint although I am not always successful.  I don't have to express every thought that comes into my head and then be sorry for being so impulsive. Helps me.The one thing that I like about using forums, skype or email etc., I can say what I really feel and before I press the <enter> button, I look it over, think about the reaction of the other person and their feelings and have the choice of whether or not I'll delete or not.

I wish I had that option in real life!! I need a big edit button!
I still think restraint is a good quality.and manners, humility and an open mind.respect SOOOOOOOOOO TRUE. I have been moody in the past and got angry where I should have ignored comments. I think what hurts me most is I have been called a liar. I have never lied, my facts my mot have always been straight as I take very strong pain meds but I have always written to this forum like a diary - why would you lie in your diary??????? I know that is not a proper purpose for a form but for so long - it was so nice to have my diary respond just live and learn, Inflamed... we've all stepped off the curb and wished we hadn't..
