Every Wednesday I put the little guy in day care, and arrange for our 6 year old to stay after school til about 4  (normally she is out of school at 215) and I use Wednesdays to shop, get hair done, or whatever..

I got to school at 4, and Ally wasnt there. she had gone home on the bus..ooops

I went home, she wasnt there. I went down to her bio/mom's, no sign of them
I went to neighbors, nothing. I went down to end of block to one of her friends house, and got bit by their dog, but good.

called bus garage, they said she DID get off the bus at home.

called the police.. after a few minutes my next door neighbor (police sgt)came on the phone and said he had seen her down the street with bio/mom around 345.. Soooooooooooooooo I knew she was with her someplace.
I went to get jake, and when I got home, she , and bio/mom and other gramma were there..they had all gone to Kmart..

DH got home about 530.. I made some sandwiches and went to ER.. OUCH.. no stitches but a thorough cleaning and a tetanus shot..

I'm NOT happy.  I am on Augmentin.. but I JUST got my remicade, I'm on Pred and just took my MTX.  I am at such a risk for infection..

Ally's school has it in writing that she is to stay after school EVERY wednesday. It was  just a complete breakdown all the way around.  the thing is she and I had a conversation just  on Friday, about what to do if I am not home when she gets off the bus.. she is to sit on the sofa and watch tv  or go get on the computer and play her games..  I think I've accidently missed a homecoming kid maybe once per kid lifetime.. its not like I'm never home..

grrrrr. and I have no rubber gloves and a kitchen full of dirty dishes.

What a mess Kathy, and your poor hand, just be careful with it. Didnt Allys bio/mom think you would be worried and stay at the house with her until you got there? The schools fault though for letting her go.

Hope everything is okay now

Hugs

Kids and buses these days. We have my niece in half day this year. They have a different schedual for preschool. She has two older brothers. It is just if they are not all on the same bus we learned from last year we do not want them coming home at the same time. Just incase you have to chase one down.
So far they have had no problems this year. One last year. Had a deal with my granddaughter a few years back.
Maybe you should have a backup plan for her if this happens again. Both my kids have always carried a house key with them in their backpack. When they were younger, I posted my cell phone number by the phone and if they get home, and I'm not there, they were to call me ASAP. It has happened, like if I got stuck in traffic or an appointment ran late. Sometimes you can't avoid these things.
I'm glad everything turned out okay for Ally...and hopefully it doesn't happen again, just in case, it does ease your mind knowing she'll know just what to do if it does.
