Ok... I think my insomnia has returned! UGH!

I have been up & about since 2pm Monday afternoon!

And here the REmicade nurse THOUGHT the benedryl IV was going to knock me out, but NOPE! Just like last time it made me "hyper". It is not really hyper... but I do not feel tired, I feel wired. Like I can stay awake until Thursday

I am yawning... but my eyes are not even heavy. I just feel like I NEED to stay awake.

Well... I guess I will go watch a movie off NetFlix and maybe I will fall asleep soon.

I hope so anyways.

This insomnia stuff is weird. But at least I get some time to myself and peace & quiet, to boot! WOOHOOO!!! Just go to sleep. It will make you sick if you do not sleep at least a little. Well i am awake for a minute because i fell a sleep without taking my medicine. But i was tired and feeling kind of yucky. Hard to descibe maybe fibro kind of yucky plus tired. And chilled. I will go back to sleep soon.Oh joonie I hate that feeling, I hope it settles down soon.  There's not much you can do until it wears off.  Why did they give you benadryl? Joonie, do they give you solumedrol along with the benydryl when you get your infusion?

I ask as my doc gave me both solumedrol and benadryl with my Remicade infusion a few weeks ago and I had an awful bout of insomnia.  The doc says it's the Solumedrol that gave me the insomnia, and instructed me to take another does of Benadryl at night to sleep. Sure enough it worked.  I only had to do this for a few days until the steroid from the Solumedrol wore off.

I fell asleep around 5am and then was woke back up at 6am to make sure daughter got ready for school and to see her off.

It was the new fibro med that helped me to sleep. My mind did not feel sleepy or even tired, I still did not feel like I was sleepy, but I kept feeling like my eyes were going cross-eyed and my eyes felt like they had lag... LOL!

No they did not give me solumedrol this time. Just benedryl. They gave me benedryl because I was to pre-medicate with Allegra, but I miss placed mine and I needed something to help with allergic reaction. PLUS, my RD gives me benedryl via IV as an extra precaution, since that possible TIA.

Benadryl sometimes can give the opposite side affect of hyperactiveness.  Most people it makes drowsy.  Extrapyramidal symptom it's called.  They premedicate with benadryl and allegra to prevent an allergic type reaction.  Itching, hives, swollen lips/tongue, swollen throat, wheezing.I have CHRONIC insomnia, if I don't have something to knock my a$$ out, I will not sleep. I take ambien10 mg and doxepin (it's an old antidepressant that has the side effect of sleepiness) and sleep about 5 hours a night. I hope you get back into a regular sleep pattern soon. If not, ask your doctor for help :)
