Going today for one. Rheumy wants to see whats after yeras with Prenisone in the picture. Anybody ever had oneI've had a few.  Simple, nonintrusive, just lay down on a table.

Good luck.
Very easy.  Have to do my forearm now.  Been taking prednisone a long time.  Painless.I've had a few as well...no pain..very easy....nothing to worry about.  Hope your results are good!A DEX scan?  Everyone w/RA should talk to their docs about when its appropriate to have one done.  I postponed having one (sick mom was my focus)  when I got around to having it done, it showed I had osteoporosis.  If I had had it sooner, I may have had osteopenia, pre osteoporosis, and I may have been able to prevent progressing to osteoporosis by increasing calcium and weight bearing exercise.

Good luck with the results, I hope you get good numbers.  Take care.

I had one done when I started Pred. Be prepared to be strapped into an uncomfortable position for the hip part. The woman asked me to get on the table and I was trying to get comfortable, wham she already had me pinned down, saying don't move. She was in a really bad mood, and I felt I could have had more warning, as I was still really suffering from a flare, which was why I had to start the Pred. in the first place.

Binge, how are your hands doing? Did you have the other one done yet? Thanks guys. I guess I can lay on a table for 10 minutes I've had two. Osteopenia in hips and low back.

The test itself is easy.
I just had another a few months ago, due to fractures in pelvis. Since I've had lumbar spinal fusion, L4-S1, they can't do the one on the spine, only the hip.
Of course, it showed osteoporosis. Just 2 years ago was osteopenia. It seems like my bones are just turning to chalk.
The DEXA scan is nothing, like everyone else said. I wish all my tests were that easy! But it is a very important one!!
It was a piece of cake....Thanks again !!6t5frlane you forgot to snap your fingers while saying "It was a piece of cake!"

Hope your results come back good.

Are you on anything like Fosomax or Actonel, that help prevent bone loss?
Did they tell you any results yet?So do they inject you for that scan? I have not had one but am thinking of asking for one given this onset of hip pain.Nope, you just lay there and smile pretty!Never had a bone scan but I've had a couple of MRI's.  The first time, the tech was very thorough in warning me that some folks get claustrophobic and can't stand to lay still for a long period of time, and if I got freaked out to just let her know.  I told her that I had been looking forward to the MRI all day (it was an evening appointment) as I was tired and achy and had been dying to lay down all day!  I promptly fell asleep, lulled into slumber by the whirring of the equipment.  No kids, no phone, no co-workers... I didn't want to leave!!!  NO results yet. Probably Monday. Two nice lady's did the exam. Joonie, No i'm not on any of those Meds. At least not yet. Jasmine. I have had probably 6 or 7 MRI's over the years. They get a little easier to take but I'm no fan trust me ! The very first one I got in I got out in about 20 seconds. I thought I was being buried . Not Fun. Lorster, No Injections. In fact it was only maybe 10 minutes at best. Just lie down and a machine scans you
