Anyone ever taken Sulindac??? | Arthritis Information

 

I went to the Rheumatologist today and he gave me a script for Sulindac.  I still don't have a diagnosis (it's been 7 months now), so I don't know what the doc. is thinking yet.  He took me off naprosyn and then off prednisone.  Since I still have swollen fingers and wrist (only the left one) I went back to see him and now he put me on this new anti inflamatory.

I don't see this used where I work but it is probably not on our formulary. It is also called Clinoril. It is a NSAID and has some anti cancer properties. It is also being investigated as a possible use in Alzheimers. I have never taken this. Keep us posted on how you do on this med.My son was prescribed Sulindac for his Osgood-Schlotters and it worked pretty well for him for that.  He didn't seem to have any negative side effects.  I think it is an older NSAID that isn't used that much any more.Thanks for the info.  I'm glad some of you have heard of this before!  I am getting ready to go to Colorado for the weekend with my husband (camping in the mountains- can't wait!) So I think I'll wait until we get home to start taking it, I would hate to have some strange reaction when I'm in the middle of nowhere. 

I don't think you should have anything to worry about if you tolerated Naprosyn alright.  I would think you would NEED some pain relief while camping - hiking, sleeping on the ground, carrying gear around - I wouldn't go without something!

I'll take along my Ibuprofen and Tylenol.  I'm more worried about the cold than anything.  The dr. took me off Naprosyn because it was making my hands itch really bad.  No rash, just constant itching.  Weird huh.  Hopefully I won't have any issues with sulindac. 

I took Sulindac/Clinoril for years with no problems.  After awhile just needed to move to a different NSAID.
