Without My Humira... | Arthritis Information

Due to a change in my medical insurance I haven't been able to get my humira because of the expense.  I did find a co-pay assistance program that is working on paperwork to get me assistance.

So it's been about six weeks since I've had my shot and I can fee my strength and energy going way down hill, constant cold, and very stiff.  Then part of me says it's not because of that; it's got to be something else I am doing wrong.  Anyone else felt that way or had experience being off the meds for a while, then going back on.  I hope that I can build up tp where I was before.  Any experiences like this?

I'm in your shoes right now.  I've been off my humira and mtx for a month and don't know if I'll be able to go back on the Humira because this is the second major infection that has landed me in the hospital since I started it in June.

I also had insurance problems. ( I have medicare part-D and am in the coverage gap)  I found assistance in the Patient Access Network Foundation, you can google that and it should find them if you haven't already.  They gave me ,000 dollars for the year which is almost exactly my out of pocket expenses required to get me into catastrophic coverage.  You can also try The Healthwell Foundation though I didn't get assistance from them I have an application.  Also, Abbott pharmaceuticals has a patient assistance program that might be able to help you out in getting your meds.

Good luck to you and please try not to get stressed out.  I did and wound up with shingles.

Tara; I had to go off Humira for a year due to some unrelated neurlogical problems. They thought they were related; but it turned out it wasn't. I managed ok....but not as well as I did with the Humira. Can your MTX be increased any? I maxed out on mine and it did help some for a while.

I'm in the sort of in the same boat with my MTX. I've been off it now fof three weeks and every week gets a little harder.

Hang in there. Search Humira assitance plans. Sometimes Humira itself will help if you contact them. It's worth a try for sure.

Good Luck!
Humira has an awesome patient assistance program.  Try and contact them and see what kind of assistance you qualify for.  I get it for free, tho I dont have ins.  But there are options out there if your insurance company doesnt pay for the med. Good LuckI have, I believe 5 sealed humira injector pens in my fridge at home. I am now getting remicade and do not need them.  I don't want to throw them away because of how expensive they are, my insurance paid for the majority of the cost.  If someone can come up with a way I can ship them, they can have them for free.  Unfortunately, I threw away all the shipping boxes they came in from the mail order pharmacy.  My email is michelebrake@sbcglobal.net if you are interested.  I would love to help someone out. Tara, I just tried to Pm you and your mailbox is full.  You guys are great.  thanks for al the encouragement.  I will clear out my mail box.  And maybe there are a few people who could use the unneeded meds?
