OT - my aching ears!!! | Arthritis Information

Band started today.  One boy has chosen drums, and the other boy is playing recorder (all 3rd-graders play recorder).  They're both practicing now. I think I may have to see if my good friend Sam Adams can stop by this evening JasmineRain2008-10-06 13:20:43Jas: My heart goes out to you - been there and done that!

Although I've never had the need to invite Jack Daniels over to keep Sam Adams company I do know people who have. According to them company the two get along quite well. My daughter loved her flute so much, she used her bday money on a used saxophone.  I feel your pain.  Luckily for our ears, she can't stand her new band teacher and is dramatically less inspired this year.  It's sad, though, that she lost a teacher who had her loving music so much.  I keep hoping she'll get that back, but every mom I've talked to says their kids are saying the same thing - they don't want to take band next year.
I'm sorry to hear your music program is having issues - I absolutely loved band when I was in school!  I'm sure my parents went through the same thing as I'm going through right now, but luckily for them we didn't start band until 6th grade.
Maybe by Christmas time the boys and I will be able to play a few tunes together!

I bet you will!  They will be teaching them 'Jingle Bells', etc. for their holiday programs, I'm sure.
Time to go to Bass Pro shops for ear plugs, lol.

Yep - since it's a Catholic school, they get to do all the Christmas carols and songs.

Yep - since it's a Catholic school, they get to do all the Christmas carols and songs. Ear plugs and an an encouraging smile, and maybe some Sam Adams. LOL Sounds cute of course my ears are safe. Now I know why my GP thinks the lot of us come in for all those pain meds  I FEEEEEL your pain.  J.M. took up the drums his junior year in H.S.  He played in the garage but our bedroom was over the garage!  Drank a lot of wine that year and the next year because his best friend got an electric guitar and the whole thing escalated to a garage band until the neighbors started to complain - loudly.  Earplugs saved the night.  Lindy LinB2008-10-06 20:07:51
