Plaq. & Stomach Upset | Arthritis Information

I just started it on Friday (I had been and continue to be on injectible MTX, which is not really working...maybe some? but I still have swollen joints so...)

Anyway RD said to only take one a day for a week then two a day.  Well I took one a day for 3 days then 2 yesterday & today.  I just want to see if it works already and I know it will take time!

I have a pretty strong stomach but it's a little upset.  I'm hungry but don't want food.  Got a baked potato today.  Does that go away?  I am on aciphex.  Part of my problem is likely that I take plaq, mobic, aciphex, bc, folic acid zinc, and iron all at the same time, after breakfast.  Down the hatch!  I have been taking ritalin/fish oil separately.

Just wanted to hear experiences.  Thanks!
you might seperate those meds a bit and see if that helps.  Are you eating something for breakfast that helps coat the stomach like yogurt or oatmealI had problems with plaquenil at first also.  I started taking them right before bed, so most nights I slept right through the queasiness.  It may take a few weeks to get used to it. Katie,

I know you are anxious for something to work, but you should always follow the RDs instructions.  Besides, it takes a while for Plaquenil to work.  For me, that was about 2 months. I think it can take up to 12 weeks for full benefits.

I had what I would call "waves of nausea" when I started Plaquenil.  I too found it difficult to eat.  My nausea lasted for about a week and a half.  I also have a friend with Lupus and she had the same problem with the nausea for the first few weeks.

I take my Plaquenil in divided dosages.  One pill with breakfast, and one pill with dinner.  I've taken my Plaquenil with my NSAID before and it didn't bother me.
Yeah I guess I just need to scale back, and hopefully my stomach will adjust...I had a lot of trouble w/plaquenil messing up my stomach.  But since it was not doing much for my RA it was an easy decision to stop it.  I stayed on it for a year to see if the side effects would go away and they never did, so finally I decided it was not worth it.

Good luck.
So....I went back on one a day for 7 days.  Took 2 yesterday, felt awful (belly I mean).  Only 1 today, and it still bugs me.  The thought of meat & cheese makes me a bit ill.  And I am not in the mood to talk around the issue...I am tired of farting at my desk and then praying that no one comes in my office.  I can't believe I just typed that!  Seriously I am going to have to force myself to take this.  I am going to start taking the second at night in time.  But I am so bloated and gassy and eeeh.  I have a very strong stomach so instead of throwing up I just sit around feeling eeeeeeehhhh.
