Feeling better-Do I keep taking meds? | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone,

I've been feeling better now for months. Pretty much back to normal. I don't like taking all these meds but will if I have to. I currently take Celebrex 400mg, Plaquenil 200mg, and Prednisolone only 2mg (dr. is tapering me off this one).

Question is: Should I stop taking the Celebrex and just keep taking the Plaquenil? I've heard stopping the Disease modifying drugs isn't a good idea, but what about the anti inflammatory drugs like Celebrex?

Thanks everyone!

Talk to your rheumatologist - he/she may well advise you to stop taking celebrex.  Mine told me to stop taking my naproxen once the plaquenil kicked in.  Now I only take naproxen occasionally, and usually for some silly injury/accident (I am notoriously clumsy), not RA pain. It is so nice to hear about people who are able to go off of drugs, at least for a while!!Thanks JasmineRain. I was curious if others have tried stopping and how they did once they were off. I will talk with my RA doc at my next appt. I have heard of people stopping the disease modifying ones and it comming back harder than ever, that's what I'm worried about. Celebrex is not a DMARD.Definately work with your doctor; but I stopped prescription NSAIDS after about three months (Many years ago). I take OTC IUB as needed. I can control the dosage better that way. I can take up to 800mg at a time.....but don't always need it.

Definately stay on your DMARDS though.
