Thinking about Remicade | Arthritis Information

I was taken off of Enbrel because it didnt work.  My inflamation markers and ANA are off the charts.  Dr is suggesting Remicade.  Would like to hear about anyones experiences with it--Good or Bad before I decide--thanks in advanceHi,

Read Joonie's post.  It is under "Remember me"  with this guy

It is down a few on the rheumatoid arthritis index

All the best to you, whatever you decide!
Thank you, when I did a search for Remicade that one didnt come up.  I finally found it!  I went with Enbrel because I considered it the lesser of the evils, now not sure I want to go with something stronger.  Scared to death of the side effects.  I have a 14 year old that needs me.  Trying to weigh the diffeence between chance or pain.  I was on Enbrel for a couple months with no relief, so my dr switched me to Remicade. I haven't had any side effects, other than it's a PITA to drive to town(40 miles) every 7 weeks to sit in the Oncology department for 3 hours to get it. The frequency and amount can be adjusted if you need more or more often, depending on how it works for you. I didn't go on a biologic until I had a terrible, unending flare, that the MTX wasn't touching, so I have a noticible amount of joint damage, that will never change, but I'm able to function and have gone back to seasonal work. That post about the fungus infections and Remicade are scarey, I don't live in the Ohio River valley, but knowledge is power, and the more aware you are the better decisions you can make. Good Luck with your decision.I'm glad you reminded me, I need to ask about the Ohio Valley thing.  I grew up West of Pittsburgh right along the Ohio River.  I was very sick with lung problems with entire time I lived up there but have have no lung problems since I moved to NC.  Thank youI have been on Remicade for 3 years. I take it every 4 or 5 weeks. I have had zero side effects.
in general it works pretty well and lets me have more good days than bad days. Last couple of times havent worked as well, but I am thinking I am having other issues besides just RA, leading to utter exhaustion and pain.

I haven't tried it but I wanted to wish you the best and I hope it helps you whatever  you decide. I know it's scarey to start a new med and it's good you are cking it out.
