HI guys, just a few lines to let you know why I haven't been online. My son is still battling JIA/Ankylosing spondylitis, he is currently taking 400mg Brufen 3 x a day and penicillin daily for three months due to a high titre of streptococcus, he is still unwell and keeps getting intermittent fevers although they have slowed up.
As for me well winter knocked me around a bit, osteoarthritis throughout my spine and facet joint RA, now have been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis after a scan that showed sacroiliitis and damage in the pelvis and hip joints. Feet showed fractures are still unhealed and my neuropathy Dr said I need surgery in neck but no-one will touch me with RA, so I am having some spinal nerve blocks done and I plan to start Rituximab in November.
I was on Lyrica and it really worked for nerve pain and numbness in hands and feet but I could not sustain the drug due to non coverage by the govt so have now switched to Tegretol, which is making me so drowsy even though I am on the lowest amount to begin with.
I hope you are all ok, I have been reading a lot of posts regularly but really had no energy to post, the fatigue is a killer. My days have been breakfast, pain relief and back to bed until at least 1pm when the pain subsides a little, then I was walking up to half hour a day but my feet are now paying for it so thank God summer is coming I can swim soon. Kind regards and I look forward to catching up with you all. Love Janie.XXedited by me for typo's
Has the penicillin made your sons AS feel any better? Just wondering as I am suspicious that streptococcus might be where most of our troubles began.Hi Gimpy, yes there has definitely been an improvement in his pain, I hope this is a temporary arthritis! Thanks Gimpy.
