2.5 mg Prednisone | Arthritis Information

Hi.  I am currently taking 2.5 mg of prednisone daily.  I just read that our body normally makes the equivalent of 2.5 mg on it's own.  I am wondering ... what's the point of me taking prednisone, if what I am taking right now is just suppressing the cortisone my body would usually make ... I hope I am making sense?I think the suppression usually happens on a "sliding scale"... if you take a whole bunch, and for a long period of time, you will end up totally suppressing your body's natural cortisol production.  If you take a small amount, even over a long period of time, often it will not completely suppress your body's ability to make cortisol.  You will still make some on your own. thanks Jasmine ... yes, I was starting to worry that I was suppressing my natural cortisone .. good to know I am still getting the benefit of both  = )
