what kind of mattress for RA & Fibro | Arthritis Information

What kind of mattress has anyone found to be the best? I know everyone is different in the sore spots, I have Fibro. & RA....I can't lay on my sides because of my hips & the lovely bursitis.....I have heard the memory form retains heat, well I don't need that major sweats....all advice is welcome pleaseeeee,  I need some sleep without knocking myself out.I don't usually indulge for myself too much.. but I did when it came to replacing my mattress.

I bought a Select Comfort Number bed eight years ago...
BEST thing I've ever done for myself.. I Love it.  It's adjustable to the hardness you want or can tolerate.. and my husband can adjust his side differently than mine.

I rarely have hip ankle or knee pain from sleeping in this bed.

It is exactly the same as it was when I bought it..

It's really easy to move to clean around and under (very lightweight!)

When we moved to our new house four years ago... we deflated and wrapped up the foam and covers and boxed up the form for boxspring into ONE large container ... moved like a dream.. was set up again in 20 minutes!!

(I should join the million dollar lady

I use a firmer mattress with a deather topper

I put in another vote for the Select Comfort beds.  My hubby and I both sleep so much better on our "sleep number" bed than on any other type of mattress.  It has actually gotten so bad that I don't like to travel because I know I won't be able to get comfortable on the beds at my mom's or my mother-in-law's.

Another thing I like about the air mattress type beds is that they don't get that sway spot, where the mattress breaks down where my rear end goes.    I hate spending hundreds of dollars on a new mattress to have it show wear only a couple of years later.  We bought our air bed in 2000 and it is like it's brand new.  Although it is a bit more pricey than some of the others, I think it will last much longer.

I have never slept on one of the temperpedic style foam mattresses.  They look like they would be very comfortable, but I have heard they can be very hot to sleep on, as they really hold onto the body heat.  I can't stand to be hot when I sleep, so that would be a problem for me.
I have an aerobed mattress (inflated very firm) with a 3" memory foam topper.  It is to-die-for; I can't imagine sleeping anywhere else. I have a 6 inch foam box spring with a 3 inch memory foam top and a thick corn mattress cover, and it's super comfy. It can get hot but since I'm a cold sleeper it just keeps me toasty and the corn cover wicks away moisture and helps keep me cool.I find the swedish foam bed I have to be super comfortable.I have a firm mattress and box springs. I also bought one of those foamy eggshell crate looking covers that I love! I bought mine at Dollar General for .00.
I wish I still had my water bed but dr said it was the worst thing for back and shoulder problems (my hubby and I both have) but it sure was nice to get in a warm bed on a cold night!
