I am traveling in a few weeks, and I will need to take an enbrel shot with me.  I am nervous about the temperature and getting thru airport security.

I have a travel bag, an ice pack, the enbrel box with my name on it that the shot will go in.  do i need anything else?  will they want to examine it?  I may get fiesty if they start messing w/ my 0 shot!!!

If you have the bag from enbrel, then there should be a card in the window on one side of it. Your dr needs to sign it or you can just get a note from dr.
Oh!  I didn't know that.  There is a card, I will do that.  I would be so upset if they took my shot from me!!!

Thank you,
Nori
I've just had a note from my doctor, my name, diagnosis, how to use, signed.  Put it in container with ice pack and had no problems.  Stan flew back from Mexico to Las Vegas, picked up 2 months of Enbrel and flew back to Mex. with it.  They put it in the refridg. on the plane.  Everything should be ok.    Lindy

I traveled twice with Enbrel and no problem.   I don't recall anyone even taking a 2nd look at it.  But, you can do as CinDee suggested and it should relieve your worries.   Hope you're going somewhere fun.

You don't need a note or anything. I do include the prescription that is pasted to the box. Nobody ever looked at that though. One time though the guy really checked the ice. It was just after the 3 OZ rule happened. he just checked that the ice pack was clean and sealed. I think they have chips on them that shows up on x-ray, really no body even blinks at it.Thanks for all the advice.  I just want things to go smoothly thru security.  I saw on Dr. Phil a lady who was roughed up pretty bad and said all she had was contact lense cleaner.  It was on tape, but you couldn't hear audio.  It looked like a nightmare!

You will be fine traveling with your Enbrel. I have been traveling
for years with injections. I do always have a note from my Rd
but have had nobody ask for it as of yet.
The ice packs keep real good in the Enbrel travel bag.
Are you going somewhere exciting?
Yes, Arizona.  Staying at a timeshare resort in Flagstaff for a week.  Will be heading into Sedona, the grand canyon, and staying in phoenix for a couple of nights.

I am meeting w/ a friend flying in from London who is very understanding and patient.  We went on a trip when I could barely walk in Oct '06.  It was very tough, but he was fine with us not really doing anything.  I am hopeful that I will be able to do more this trip, but right now I get tired very quickly.  We will probably drive everywhere instead of doing any of the hiking.  But I hear the scenary is breathtaking.

I first met my friend a couple of years before RA, so he knew me first when I was completely healthy.  I know it's tough for him to see the changes in me, and I have not had a positive attitude about RA either.

Nori, Yes, the southwest is breathtaking and you'll have a wonderful time.  If you have time when you're in Phoenix you might visit the Hurd (sp?) Museum.  Incredible museum devoted to southwest art and history.  You could rent a scooter to get around, it would be so worth it.  We're in the Yuma area and really love the Sonora Desert.  Have fun.  Lindy A scooter would be so much fun!  What a great idea.
