I have just been to see my doctor as I have been up all night with stomach pain. I have had a history of it for a while and the pain is the same place in my back as it is in my upper stomach. It actually looks as if i have a slight swelling off to the right of my stomach, when i touch the area i want to scream. I also have had a few episodes of bad pain in my back that travels to my shoulders , jaw, neck ,stomach with sweating and nausea...it wasnt heart attack. It feels as if i cant breath properly, not short of breath just that my stomach will burst open if i breathe. I had a camera down my throat last week so i know its not an ulcer as the results came back as negative and everything looked normal. I have exteme acid problems and my stomach feels as if someone has kicked me. its so tender.

The doctor is trying to get me an urgent ultra sound this afternoon or tomorrow morning and gallstones and gall bladder problems were mentioned.
I haven't, pin... but wanted to wish you well..I had mine out in 95.  My first and only real GB attack had me convinced I was having a heart attack.  They took it out and found no stones, only that it showed mild chronic long term inflamation.
I've felt fine sincew. (I used to have bad indigestion, couldnt eat fat etc. ) after the operation my tummy troubles ended

Thanks Babs, Glad you are better kathy....hope this will end mine

aw Pin, push for the surgery even if no stones appear.  I was sent home for two years with confirmed acute severe pancreatitis attacks and told to see a psychiatrist as I was faking the right side pain because the tests showed no stones, and my mother died of pancreatic cancer, which is hereditary.  I sought out a surgeon directly who I heard had done a gall bladder removal on a 8-month pregnant woman - I knew he was the right one for me!  He removed a gallbladder that the biopsy said was acute cholecystitis(sp), or an acutely inflammed, infected gall bladder.  Felt great ever since, and after two years on of antibiotics, feel even better.  Good luck and I bet you are in surgery pronto.  pin, it could also be a problem with your pancreas with the symptoms you describe. Hopefully they have done an amylase and lipase level to make sure those values are not elevated. Get that gallbladder out if it is warranted. I had mine out in 96 and have had some issues with my bile duct but no more severe back pain like I did. good luck. ((((Pinn)))), I'm so sorry this has happened on top of everything else.  Lori, beat me to the pancreas post.......make sure they check the levels.  If possible push them along, you're in pain and it sounds like pretty severe pain and some decisions should be made quickly.  Take care and keep us posted.  LindyI had mine out a few years ago.  I went to the ER with crazy pain and a fever and out it came.  It is often a same day in and out procedure.  I had to stay overnight since I was on a large dose of pred. at the time.

If they want it out---get it out.  You can only feel better.
Hi Pin-

Hope you get to the bottom of this and get relief soon! The test I had to take was simply swallowing some capsules and getting an xray. They found a gallbladder full of stones so tiny it was like sand. It had been giving me pain so bad I couldn't breathe. I had to lay submerged in hot water to take a breath. They said it was a nervous stomach because I just had my first baby.

That was 24 years ago so I had the big invasive operation. My mom had the athroscopy (or whatever they call it) a few years ago. She sailed through it. When she woke up from it she didn't even know it was already done.

Best of luck to you. Keep us posted!
Pinny,

So sorry to hear you're having a rough time, having so much pain.  I justwanted to say that I know of 2 young women in their 30s that had their gall bladders removed.  It was done athroscopically, so wasn't too bad.  I hope they diagnose the problem and take care of it and you'll be painfree soon.  Take care.

Don't know about it but wish you well with whatever is done.

Thank you all so much for the good advice and the lovely words...hopefully i will get it seen to soon and i will assk about the pancreas testsHad my gallbladder out 2 years ago.  I had been having the same pain for over 5 years and suddenly it got worse after I ate peanut butter on my am toast.  It was burning pain in my stomach and across the same area in my back.  They first told me it was gastritis for 5 years until the BIG attack, then they did find stones.  I hope yours is diagnosed faster than mine.  The laproscopic surgery was an easy one.  In and out the same day.  Back to work in a week.  Good luck!Pin...what you described is exactly what I felt.  Sonogram showed hundreds of small stones and the surgeon scheduled the surgery within 48 hours.  Honestly I was hurting so bad I looked forward to the surgery and it went fine.  After a few days of mild diarrhea I was back to my ole self again.  (this was this past July)

Besides stones, you could also have a "diseased" gall bladder that is harder to diagnose, make sure you ask your Doc about that as well.

Hope you feel better!
Audrey
A couple of my friends have had their gall bladder out. They also had an outpatient surgery. One way to tell if it's your gallbladder is to eat something spicy or fried and if it acts up more.....well then it's probably it. I wouldn't recommend you to try. Sounds like you are miserable. I wish you well and soon.
take care
Mine's gone too. I didn't have stones, mine just kinda died for some reason. US shows physical structure of the gall bladder and a HIDA scan shows the function. I had 8 % function when the FINALLY did the HIDA scan. The surgeon told me after the operation that the GB istelf was falling apart when he was pulling it out through my belly button. (they use a scope to take it out in almost all instances). Your GB stores bile that's produced by your liver. WHen you eat something with fat in it, the BG squeezes a lil bile into the small intestine to help in digestion. When they take the BG out you no longer have this, it makes fatty foods harder to digest and when you eat them you may have some diarrhea otherwise have it out shouldn't cause you any hardship. The surgery itself was a breeze to recover from because you only have 3 lil tiny incisions. Hope you feel better soon, wendy [QUOTE=pin cushion]I have just been to see my doctor as I have been up all night with stomach pain.
