In the beginning, I had a long struggle getting on a biologic as my insurance co. was fighting my RA as a pre-existing condition.

I have had my third shot of Enbrel and I am doing so much better. I am really noticing an improvement. I was on Enbrel before but I expected too much. I wanted my old life back and to do the things I used to be able to do. Now I realize how silly that was.

I realize this could be short lived but I am praying and being optimistic.

Question: Do any of you get swollen lymph glands and feel fluish after your biologic? This is one thing that makes me nervous. My health was so much better,I had led a very active life with amazing bone density due to hiking and yoga - AND I did not smoke last time I was on Enbrel. Also I have gained 25 pounds since being on high dose pred. in one month so I am looking forward to cutting pred down which puts me in danger because of my ulcer.

One last thing. Imagine if I had not been taken off biologics and my health did not take such a drastic downturn? I had been a tax paying citizen, always involved in community service and paid my bills.

Since I could not afford insurance due to losing my job that I fought for but could no longer do, I was taken off of biologics and pretty much everything else. I cannot pay back my school loans so now I am in the process of having them forgiven. SOOOOOO - lets talk National healthcare. What would have happened if I continued on my biologics and my health improved. I am highly educated graduated outstanding student of my class. YOU PAID FOR IT now that I cannot. That education has become useless because my medical care deteriorated along with my body. I have a teaching credential, Masters and several certifications and a lot of expertise in science and teaching reading. I would be out there right now paying taxes, giving back to my community, (I have ALWAYS volunteered, it was so rewarding and I tough my daughter from an early age that we had it so good - we owed it to society to give back)   I would have been helping children NOT fall through the cracks and to become contributing members of society. I would not have this permanent damage that will likely lead to expensive surgery down the road and YOU will pay for. So you tell me - which is more costly - depriving people of healthcare so their condition worsens or Preventive care, not excluding people with pre-existing conditions, treating chronic conditions - do you think that having a plan that all Americans can access decent healthcare would be more cost effective?roxy2008-10-25 14:42:11roxy - I am glad your treatment is working for you, best of luck ~~ CathyI did not originally intend on going on my tirade about the healthcare system even though I do think it is shameful

I just worry about these symptoms I am getting after my Enbrel shot. Anyone else get swollen lymph glands and flu symptoms? I would love to hear from you. I get nervous about all the side effects.no.. I don't have those symptoms after my enbrel shot, roxy.
