I had a question about enbrel.  My rhuemy is starting me on it this week.  My question is Have you noticed any improvement on your arthritis pain and stiffness, and if so, how long did it take?  I have been facing some terrible stiffness and pain within the last 8 weeks or so.  We upped my MTX and prednisone dose.  I would love to get off the prednisone but right now that is impossible.  I'm hoping that enbrel will work and work fast.  Thanks, Hiking_gal

I'm on Enbrel, have been now for 8 months and yes I have noticed a significant improvement overall.  It took me about 3 months before I saw any change but everyone is different.I had wonderful results in just a few weeks.  It's been the best treatment for me.

Enbrel made a HUGE difference in me literally over night.  Enbrel gave me my life back. I hope it works for you Hiking Gal.

The first time i was on Enbrel it was like Linncn , it was over night.
The second time was much longer.
Good luck to you hiking_gal.
It made a big difference...pulled me out of a flair within 24 hrs when the Humira failed.  Of course, everyone is different.  Humira worked well for me for over 2 years and it took a couple of months to really kick in.

I would say I definitely felt a huge improvement over how I was feeling.. energy level was much much better... still a.m. stiffness.. still joint discomfort but less... lots less..

I'm still not where I want to be.. maybe enbrel isn't my right mix??   but I do feel alot better.

good  luck to you!

I noticed improvement on the morning stiffness the very next day after my shot! I have been taking it for 11 months and it has done wonders for my pain, energy and stiffness! It's been 3 years since I was dx and this might do the trick! **Don't want to jinx it**
I hope you get good results just as fast!
Good luck!
Is anyone concerned about the potential cancer risk increase from taking enbrel, Humaira etc? Thanks to everyone who posted their experiences on Enbrel.  I am very hopeful to get my life back.  As you can tell by my computer name I love to hike and trail ride my horse but I have not really been able to do so this past year due to pain and stiffness.

As for Chrise4983, I am not overly concerned about the cancer risk.  In speaking with my rheumy and with my oncologist (from a past problem) I feel relatively safe but of course we will be monitoring the situation closely.

Again, thanks everyone...I will be starting the Enbrel very soon....Hiking_gal

Before the Enbrel, I was in so much pain I just wanted to die.  No DMARD I had tried was working and I was unable to go to work.  My life was miserable.  I felt that Enbrel was worth the risk.  I think my RD told me once that having RA can put you at higher risk for lymphoma as well.
Kweenb,
I heard that having RA puts you at a higher risk of lymphoma.  I heard that from both the rheumy and the oncologist.  If enbrel works well for me, I will be thrilled...hiking_gal

I hope it works for you too.  You should sign up for the Quick Assist program as well.  You can get it for a year and don't even have to show you financially need help.  If you have financial need, you can qualify for longer than a year.  The kicker is that you have to sign up BEFORE you fill your first script.  They have paid my copay for the last 11 months.  I haven't had to pay anything for the treatment as of yet.  I think in January, I'll have to start paying my copay.   kweenb2008-10-28 12:02:52Thanks for the advice kweenb.  My insurance copay is only for a 3 month supply if I order through Medco.  I'll save the assistance to those folks who need it.  I know it is a very costly drug.  I pay through the nose for my health insurance but it is worth it considering I deal with RA and Type 1 diabetes.  Hopefully your copay for the drug will be kept low.  Hiking_gal
