I was diagnosed with CMC Arthritis and Tendonitis on the right hand a few years.  I was told to use a splint for 8 weeks.  After 4 weeks, my right hand hurt more and felt so weak I decided to stop wearing the splint.

My main problem is that I cannot hold a pen and write and grip anything strongly.  The other problem is that I am right handed and work with computers all day.  Is my right hand suppose to feel weak after 4 weeks.  Is splinting the only treatment?  This pain is getting stronger and stronger each day.

Can someon offer an advice?  The name of my splint is Premier Wrist Brace with Thumb Spica.  I cannot even hold a pen with this on?

it might be time to see a hand therapist.  they can build a splint that allows you more movement yet still supports the sore joints.  plus they can give you exercises to rebuild your strength
I have a few splints from over the years.  The ones that stop most movement cause more pain for me.  I found some at my local drug store that support the wrist but still allow some movement...they've been great for me.
Go and try a few on and see how they feel before you buy any.

I second the physical therapist angle..

I jsut began a month ago... and my discomfort and mobility has improved.

good luck!!
