Ovaries and Enbrel | Arthritis Information

I am a newbie! I am finding this site to be most helpful.  I have a question about pain in my ovaries. I had a catscan last week because of pain on my right ovary. The test came back all clear which left me still feeling pain and confused. I noticed a site, which spoke of Enbrel being used in Germany to treat Ovarian cancer. It stated that Enbrel changes the cell struture of the Ovaries. It started me thinking, could Enbrel cause complications on healthy Ovaries? Also I am Menopausal.

WELCOME TO AI IVYPOE

so very nice to meet you...

I searched for some information on possible problems from Enbrel on the ovaries and I did not find to much on that subject  I found the same information on the German study as you did.   I am not in the medical field but if they are thinking about using Enbrel on Ovarian cancers and it works, it could be possible that you may have a little more safe guard against getting Ovarian Cancer because of using Enbrel...Once again I am not in the medical field and it is only my thought on the subject.

Being post menopausal myself,  I often have little twinges near my ovaries too and the cat scans have showed nothing as of yet. I think it may be from being in menopause.

Having  had to deal with a past cancer, I also worried about what the Enbrel may do and from all that I have read and all that I was told, there is a chance that  things can and may go wrong with it's use but the percentages are low and I had to base my decisions on the information I had at hand.  It took me quite awhile to OK the use of Enbrel.  I just had my second shot, and I am hoping that I will do well with it.

I hope you are feeling a little more secure about having to use a biologic now or in the future...By reading all that you can on Enbrel and what our members have to say about their responses to Enbrel, you may feel a little better about using the drug.

Hope to see more post form you and you enjoy your stay with us.

I also get pain in my ovaries and 2x I have had a altersound my periods are worse too and in the end the dr said mabey it is your bodies way of saying that because of all our health issues mabey now is not a good time to be pregnant so everything is out of sorts it sounds good to me.....TERESAI am having a very hard time trying to get someone to say what is wrong with me. The pain, most times, is tolerable. I have seen 5 doctors, working on 2 more. I had one doctor tell me there was a dark mass on my ovary. In turn i saw a surgeon, upon his examination and a look at the cat scan, he said they were nuts, there was nothing there. He mentioned after the exam, maybe it was the enbrel and/or the RA. I just need to know, for certain, what the problem is.

I am sorry Cynthia, that you can't get any answers for your questions.  I don't think I have read any other post, from other members, about any one else sharing your problem...I do know that RA can show up in your internal organs, maybe that's what your doctor meant.  I looked again on the www. and still can not find any references to Enbrel and problems with ovaries.

  Good Luck on you hunt...

I will keep my fingers crossed that you get your answers very soon.

Thank you for the very warm welcome Toni and your enthusiasm for researching my pain is comforting. It is wonderful to know there is site were so many people care about one another. I have never met anyone with RA, so it has been difficult finding a sympathic ear. It is frustating when I'm around friends and mention I have RA everytime some one will say "oh i have that too, just take an asprin and move on" When I try to educate them on the subject, their eyes glaze over and roll back in their heads. So as you can see this is a very refreshing place to be. As for my mystery ailment, I am praying and seeing doctors, always hoping the next one is God sent.

Does anyone have the link to that German study?

When you say you have pain in your ovaries do you mean all the time or just during your period?

I have been on Enbrel for almost 2 years now and my periods and PMS are getting worse. I'm horribly bloated and miserable for days. And when I'm ovulating my ovaries twinge and ache for about a day.

My ovaries only hurt once a month until I had a pevic exam. Now they hurt all the time. My doctor applied pressure on the right ovary, which hurt like hell, and since then it give me pain all the time. I feel like I am being shifted around to every doctor in town. Now that I am in constant pain I have had a Cat scan, nothing, saw a surgeon, nothing, now I am scheduled for a colonosomy, which by the doctor reaction, nothing is wrong either, he just wants to fill his pockets. I am so frustrated. I talked to my RA nurse about my symptons, she had nothing to say about the whole deal. Where is the compassion, let alone the need or want to make a human being feel better. Right now I am nauseated and havent eaten much today. My only true connection is with prayer, however I still havent a clue what is wrong with me. I guess its just the RA.
