Kenalog question | Arthritis Information

My previous Rheummy would pop me with a Kenalog shot every time I had a flare and it did wonders.  My new Rheummy doesnt like it, he said it will make my bones brittle and he refuses to use it, therefore I remain in pain until they find a drug that works.  Has anyone else been told this about this drug, I saw that Dr for 5 years and had 3-4 shots a year.  My husband says I need to go back to that Dr since I am soooo miserable.  Would like to get everyones opinion about that drug before I decide.

Thanks in advance
Never heard of it. sorry.  I'd think twice about it though it it will make your bones weak.  Is their some supplement you can take to offset that side effect?I haven't heard of it either..

off to google it.
what I found was a topical ointment for skin conditions of the inflammatory type.

When I worked in Ophthalmology the doc use to inject kenalog into the eye when the patient had Iritis/Uveitis.  I have never heard of injection it for joint pain, though.

well. shoot.. it's cortisteriod.

yeah.. that's not good in large quantities... and will weaken your bones...

I guess my current Rheummy feels I have had enough after reading other Dr's notes.  Its a shame there is always side effects to the drugs that work so well.  It seems like we all deal with this more than meds for any other diseases.

Actually, it is a steroid, very similar to pred. My doctor used it when injecting my knee. Most of the time when you think you're getting a cortisone or pred shot, it is kenalog, according to my doctor's PA.
