Sorry if someone already found this and posted it, I was just *way* too excited not to post it for you!!

"Fibromyalgia is frequently considered an 'invisible syndrome' since musculoskeletal imaging is negative," said Eric Guedj, M.D., and lead author of the study. "Past imaging studies of patients with the syndrome, however, have shown above-normal cerebral blood flow (brain perfusion) in some areas of the brain and below-normal in other areas. After performing whole-brain scans on the participants, we used a statistical analysis to study the relationship between functional activity in even the smallest area of the brain and various parameters related to pain, disability and anxiety/depression."

Am I the only excited person? LOL I doubt it..........it's at least a step in the right direction!!!!!

Thanks so much for the article Katie and no you are not the only person to be excited.  So far there are two of us. I have already copied 4 pages and will probably do some more later.  I was diagnosed in the latter part of June with fibro after suffering three years with polymyalgia rheumatica so found the part about fibro followng an inflamatory disease very interesting. This is the first article that I have perked up after reading feeling there may be some hope out there after all.

I have been a member of this forum for 11 months now but have only posted on the poly board and once on the fibro thread that I had no answer to.  Have been reading on this one also but only within the past week found a thread of real interest posted by Joonie.....I think.
Thank you again for the article.
NO problem! I've emailed everyone I can think of....and posted this in a few places. Trying to spread the word as much as I can!!

My ex liked to tell me that he thought it was just "all in my head" so I'm SUPER excited.....I want to print this out and staple it to his forehead....haha
My husband's cousin told me the other day that I should get out and exercise more.  She was lucky we were on the phone 'cause I would have liked to reach out and touch someone.  I just told her that she should walk a mile in my shoes which she did not appreciate.  Hasn't spoken to me since.  After suffering with me for 3 years my dh is a doll except he forgets sometime and walks away leaving me in a chair as I am having trouble getting up due to the pain in the legs.
I think you should follow through with the stapling thing.  It would serve him right.

ps
It was a post by Graciesmom that I was refering to before.
TeedOff2008-11-03 16:40:38LOL I hear ya. :)

I don't really post here anymore, but I knew there were a lot of Fibro people so it was worth sharing!
Very Interesting! I feel I may have fibro also. I found the information very useful. So thank you. I am going to talk to my doc the next visit. I have painful areas all over my body. I just thought it was all the painful joints causing tendonitis. I chose my name because I feel my body is just plain old Inflamed.....Oh yeah.....make sure you use a industrial stapler...you want it to stick!
