When Iwent to pickup my Forteo today, I was told, the Company (Lilly) was no longer manufacturing it.  They told me to call my Doctor.  I have been taking theses injection since July 07. It has done ny bones a lot of good.  I try calling the forteo # and it was closed for the day, I called the Doctor they didn't know what I was talking about, so they are going to call me when they fine out.

Do I take what I have left (about two weeks) or is thre something wrong with it?  Maybe the cost was too high. 0 to 850 a pen, 28 days.  I hope nothing wrong with it.
Well the doctor just called and said they were wrong that they are still making it and he's going to call drug store.  Very funny what else can happen to me......
dose anyone else take this or know anything?  I don't know wheather to laugh or cry...LOL

Lilly Introduces New Forteo Delivery Device in US

Posted on: Monday, 20 October 2008, 06:00 CDT

Eli Lilly and Company has announced that its new Forteo delivery device is available for patient use in the US. The new delivery device was designed specifically for Forteo patients to help them more easily administer their treatment on a day-to-day basis, the company said.

The new delivery device, approved by the FDA in June 2008, is being shipped to pharmacies and is available for patients when they fill their prescriptions in the coming weeks.

The new Forteo delivery device includes a larger and wider body, fewer steps to complete an injection with no priming necessary and color-coded parts to enhance patient training and communication, the company said.

Forteo is indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who are at high risk for fracture and to increase bone mass in men with primary or hypogonadal osteoporosis who are at high risk for fracture. Forteo, marketed as Forsteo in the EU, is said to be the first osteoporosis therapy approved by the FDA and the European Medicines Agency that actually rebuilds bone.

Vladimir Kopernicky, medical director of US osteoporosis and urology at Eli Lilly and Company, said: "Lilly is committed to improving the lives of patients through the development of effective treatment delivery mechanisms. We hope that this simpler design will help patients adhere to their Forteo treatment plan so they can receive the full benefits of their medication."
