Wishing you all good weather for the wait.

I was listening to the radio(yes, conservative radio) and they had all these people on who usually are the first people at their respective locations and most of them were reporting crowds like they've never seen before...

I'm with you AA, Go McCain!!

Whatever your political leanings may be, get out and exercise your right and your duty....

inflamedOnline2008-11-04 09:00:00I'll stop in on my way home from workLooks like it's getting ugly in Philidelphia. Some Black Panthers were blocking a voting area and held a night stick in their hands intimidating white people from voting. Cops were called and it turns out one of them is a voting monitor ???? They interviewed one white guy and said that the Panthers were yelling black supremacy stuff and telling the to leave and go home....Just great, just what we need now.  6t5-

Not good news.  Hope it is cleared up.
I was in & out in about 10 minutes...
I'll stop in on my way home from work
Me too.

I found a recent article about the Black Panther party in Philly - but it says the head did not support Obama (doesn't say who he would support; also says he wouldn't give many details to the reporter because the reporter was a "cracker"!)

http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_update/20081029_New_Panthers__war_on_whites.html

My husband just called and said he went and our usually "quiet" polling place was mobbed! No place to park, police...

I think records will be broken this year with the number of voters.

Bet it's even busier when I go-
it took me about an hour...and the line was shorter when I left.  Every county race was unopposed.  NO Democrats ran...thats sad.  Even if they are going to lose, and in my county a Dem would more than likely lose, there should at least be a candidate.  Same thing in areas where the Dem is unopposed...I had that issue in GaSuzanne, I found this but it says the Black Panthers were standing to the side and people just "felt intimidated".

One guy claimed he was blocked from going inside, but he dealt with it by going inside (???) and calling the police. Then the police came and took the Black Panther away.

The story seems kind of garbled and inconsistant. This is also an extreme right wing blog site. I'm taking the whole story with a grain of salt.

http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YjMzMDZhMmJlZjA5NTI5NTYxYTNiMTYzZWE4YTE5ZmM=Our ballot had a pretty equal amount of seats with each party unopposed.  I guess when there is a well-liked incumbent, people don't want to spend the money to run against them.  But neither party seemed favored in unopposed seats. Gogo - I couldn't find any new coverage of what 6t5 described, but the recent article I found about the party and their extreme views does give some weight to the fact that they would be intimidating, doesn't it?  Their leader makes it sound like that is their intent.

But, since he didn't support Obama, it is probably their presence that is intimidating and not ties to any particular candidate.  They probably just wanted national media coverage, so they will get their wish.
Suzanne....no idea. I guess unless there is some more responsible reporting we will never know.
Suzanne....no idea. I guess unless there is some more responsible reporting we will never know.
My link was to philly.com, isn't that their local newspaper?  Your link was a transcript of live news coverage, so it was 'on the fly' of breaking news - I don't consider that irresponsible, just what happens when it is breaking.

hopefully, they have it under control.
Saw it " LIVE " at lunch on Fox News. They showed the Panthers and interviewed the white guy that the Panthers spoke too and intimidated. Racism at it's worstGimpy. Would you really expect MSNBC to cover this ?? Now if it was a white supremist doing it to black people.............6t5, uh, yes, I think they would cover it. But I don't consider MSNBC to be the ruler by which all reporting is measured either.

Not even sure what we're discussing. These guys aren't "for" Obama so what was going on there?

My opinion is an extremist group trying to get on the news.  Read what they have been doing in Philly, before this. It's already on you tube. Listen to what they told the white guy. Sounds like there for a black presidentI dunno, 6t5, I watched that youtube thing and it basically says the same as what I posted. We don't know why they were there (one of them was a poll watcher, according to the youtube broadcast).

The article Suzanne posted said this: "* On Barack Obama and voting: "He's a puppet on a string. I don't support no black man running for white politics. I will not vote for who will be the next slavemaster." Besides, he added, Obama is "a Negro who doesn't even support reparations for black people in America.""

So why would they be there insisting people vote for Obama? And how would they even know how people were intending to vote? In Cnada you're not allowed to wear buttons or anything promoting a candidate to the polls. Is that true in the US also?
In Cnada you're not allowed to wear buttons or anything promoting a candidate to the polls. Is that true in the US also?
Varies according to state law.
I'm sure they do not want people to vote for McCain.I voted...not saying for who cause that'd be rude.
Santa Clause was on the ballot anyone else see that? Will look for report on this incident later on FOx.

Santa was not on CA ballot.
This Black Panther looks white, is the assistant manager of the polling station, and he's trying to get Fox news to not film INSIDE the polling station (is that legal in the US? In Canada you're not allowed to record inside polling stations).

I believe there was some kind of incident here, of unkonwn motivations, but it also looks like Fox is trolling around looking for (or trying to start) trouble.

I like how later the reporter says "When I said scuffle I meant verbal scuffle"Gimpy-a-gogo2008-11-04 12:21:06I think they are trying to report what is going on.Jan, you didn't even have time to watch the post before you posted your opinion.Gimpy-

How are things in Canada?

Gimpy, Look at the other video, the original. That ain't no white guy. Who or What was that guy telling the reporter to leave ? Looked like an old Hippie?  Bottom line intimidating anybody not to vote is wrong.

I guess you didn't actually watch the3 video before you formed your "opinion" then.

6t5, I did watch the other video, which basically said the same thing as the article I read. You watched the video of the person that called the police ?

Millions have already voted and millions more will vote today, some standing in long lines.  Most of the voting will take place in an orderly fashion, with no incidents.  Here in parts of California, 80% of eligible voters are expected to turn out.

As far as incidences between voters, it is proposition 8 here in California that is causing heated exchanges between proponents and opponents, as they gather at major intersections demonstrating, yesses on one side, nos on the other.  In Sacramento there was an arrest, a proponent for 8 got into a skirmish w/a police officer.  Proposition 8 would amend the state constitution to ban same sex unions.

edited to add "some" standing in long lines

That clip looks like the news crew has arrived to cover an incident that has already been diffused.  So they foolishly showed themselves being turned away, and the anchor is stumbling around because he has no clue what is going - not uncommon in live news!

Where cameras can go must vary by state, too - haven't we seen clips of past Pres's stepping out of voting booths?

I am in Southern California.  I walked right in (no wait)

All done! Now watching the coverage it is true.. Here is a link to our LOCAL Fox news:

If this is the least that happens.. I will be grateful.
