Hey I just got home from a very long day at hospital. I want to thank everyone for the Prayers and the well wishes. I sincerely appreciate it. They are treating it as MRSA even though they are not 100 %. They have to wait 72 hours for the cultures. The doctor said he is 100% sure it is staff infection. He believes it will be MRSA because of all the treatmnet he has recieved and it just kept getting worse. Well when I got there today oh my....the swelling and fire redness had moved up to his elbow, his forearm is twice the size of his bicep and he is a strapping young man. He looked like a one armed Popeye. His doctor is consulting with a infectious disease doctor and we should see him in the morning. So I will get up extra early so I can get my joints moving and get to the hospital early enough to talk to this specialist. It only took 15 + hours to get him  to his room. He is in a controlled Isolation room. ....Also got a message that my childhood best friends mother died today. Special  prayers are needed for this family. Martha Hicks was a great lady, she been through a lot in her life, Her eldest son was Steven Hicks , who was Jeffery Dalhmers first victim. Really a long story there. But she died of cancer today. I am sad. I now live several hours away and do not know if I can make the funeral yet. Depends on my son. Thanks everyone for reading tis very long post.

(I posted this same message on my original post "My sons in hospital". I wanted to be sure everyone knows I appreciate their prayers. so I posted here also)IO,

It sounds like the doctor is on top of this, and with your son being a healthy young dude, hopefully this will all be under control soon.  You take care, these type of situations are very stressful and long days at hospital taxing.  The passing of your friend's mother must add to all the emotions you are feeling now, so lean on friends and family for support, and know that many here, including myself are keeping you and your son in our thoughts and prayers.
Take care.

Prayers for your son and you.Keep us posted Lisa. We'll keep praying.

I am sorry about your son.  I'll be praying for his recovery.

Also for your friend.

I'm sure you've got some more long days ahead.

Take care of yourself and rest when you can I am at the hospital now. My sons arm looks a little better today. I am so happy. It means that the antibiotic he is recieving is starting to work. Finally. I brought my laptop with me today. They have public wireless internet here. I love it. Now that he is in his own room There is two very comfortable reclyner chairs. I have claimed mine. We are still waiting for the doctors to visit. The infectious disease doctor is do in sometime today. I have a small list of questions to ask him. I just feel better because my sons arm looks a little better and he feels like it might be getting better. Thank you for your prayers. I am busy looking up information on Staff and MRSA...Nasty stuff.

i'll keep my post to this thread on this subject. Thanks to all.
Lisa
Prayers for your childhood friend's family, victims of crime. My thoughts go out to you...
glad things are looking better!Doctor was just in. He will be here 10 days....ughhhhhDid they give him a DX? Glad he is at least looking and feeling a little betterSpecialist infectious disease doctor was just in and said he maybe able to go home in a Saturday,,,,lol........Got of love these docs. Who knows.....Oh yeah he said the culture came back today as Staff and he said tommorrows "sensitive readings will show MRSA" he said he has seen about 2000 cases in the last 5 years. He said everyone comes in and complains of a spider bite and infact it ALWAYS turns out to be MRSA.......I don't know what to think anymore...What will be will be. Thanks everyone.IO,

Good to hear your son is improving.  You take care of yourself too, do you have to take any special precautions, like masks or something?
I bet he'll be happy to go home....glad things are slowly getting better for him.We have to wear gloves to touch him....I just don't touch him . Alot of handwashing and antibacterial stuff on the wall. They have masks but it is not needed. It is not airborne. His Fiance and I are the only ones that stay. We requested no visitors. His dad has stopped in but no reason to up the risk for others to get infected. I am home now...sitting in my very comfy bed and hubby is making me some popcorn...tea...good movie...and a foot rub...

I Heading back to the hospital. I am expecting he is getting better with every treatment.
Report as soon as I know.
