blocks | Arthritis Information

Just wondering how many people here have nerve blocks done on their back, neck etc. Hi Wendy. I had a nerve block done in my lumbar spine that didn't work at all. But a month later I had one in my c-spine and it worked wonders! It lasted for about 8 months. The pain has just now returned, so I might get another one after my spine surgery. As long as they can control the pain in the c-spine with the blocks, I don't want to have surgery there. But my l-spine is so badly deformed from degenerative scoliosis that the blocks just don't work in that area. Hopefully the surgery will get rid of my pain and allow me to walk again.I've had them in both the c-spine and l-spine, but none have worked for me at all.I have them done regularly.  I have a ton of inflammation along my sternum/neck/jaw/shoulder.  There are so many strong muscles involved there that RA meds aren't enough.  My pain dr. does injections to help loosen everything up and less pain.  Hasn't worked wonders yet.  He says it will be a slow but steady process.  He is thinking in years...not weeks.  Hmmm...I have had cortisone shots in my back that didn't really work much and didn't last long at all.  After that, I had 6 RFL's and it's worked wonders!  I think the RFL stands for Radio Frequency Ablasion?  They basically kill the nerve that gives the pain.  Anyway, they were very successful.
