Flare or med adjustment needed? | Arthritis Information

Hello -

I'm fairly new to this or at least I consider less than 2 years new and puzzled over when increased activity is a flare and when it's time to re-evaulate my meds.   I've had some increased pain and fatigue for the past 3 weeks, more so this past week.  I'm working fulltime, with some additional hours the past two months so could be a cause.   Hours have gotten better for the last week or two, so I'm back to a normal work week and hoping that would have made a difference.  I certainly don't want to increase my meds if this is a temporary issue but at the same time, I know it's important to keep things maintained.

I've listing out my pre and current meds/dose below.  While I've decreased mtx and relafen, it's been almost 3 months of decrease,  so you wouldn't think that would start making a difference now, would you?

Pre Aug 15th                                      Post Aug 15th
Relafen - 1500 mg                              Relafen - 750 mg
Mtx - 8 pills (20 mg)                            Mtx - 6 pills (15 mg) decreased due to headaches
Enbrel - weekly                                   Enbrel - no change

Added to my confusion about a flare vs med change is that I've been pretty stable for about a year now, so just not sure.   I know I need to call my RD and ask and will do so on Monday, but curious what you all think.

Thanks
Cathy
Hi Cathy,

Hows the twitch'n today?

Why did you decrease the Relafen?
It's still there - odd that it started about the same time as the RA flaring up.    Relafen was decreased as I was maintaining for quite awhile.   I was hoping to start taking even the one remaining relafen pill as needed, but decided best to wait. Yeah, check with your rd.  Might try bumping the Relafen back up a bit.
