flippin headache | Arthritis Information

I'm sorry I just feel like I have to tell the world at this point that I have had this flippin headache since Monday morning and I just can't stand it anymore!

Extra strength tylenol is all I'm supposed to take and it doesn't do jack.
2 times I have taken fiorinal and it stays away the longest with that but I don't think I'm supposed to take it.
I have slathered my neck and head bones with icy hot, wrapped heating things around my neck, cold rag on my head....
It kind of feels like it's in my sinuses. I have pain in my nose and above my eyes but I am not stuffed up nor have a fever that would suggest infection....

Any suggestions besides cutting my head off?
sorry but I gotta laugh at "head bones" as that is what my older son calls his skull. LOL My "head bones " are two lumpy things that are at the base of my skull. My Italian aunts used to love to read my lumpy head.

sssh the fiorinals are my husbands but I had them prescribed to me years ago for migraines too.

I'll pour myself a coke now as I just took 2 more tylenol. Do you use a netipot even tho your passages are clear? I've heard of them but don't know much about them.

Maybe go to the local ER and see if they can give you some of the good stuff for migraines?  I'd suggest Imitrex but I think that has to be given when the headache starts to be really effective.

On the sinus infection side.  Have you ever tried sinus irrigation?  Get yourself a 3oz bulb syringe, about 8oz of warm water(preferably warmed distilled), 1/2 TSP non-iodized salt, and 1/2 TSP baking soda.  Mix and use the syringe to squirt it up your snoot making sure to let it run out the opposite side.  Works wonders for your sinuses.  My ENT has had me doing it for years.

Hope you feel better...headaches suck.

[QUOTE=wanttobeRAfree]LOL My "head bones " are two lumpy things that are at the base of my skull. My Italian aunts used to love to read my lumpy head. Wanttobe....I swear by Lavender Oil massaged gently into your temples. If you can, try it!

And make sure it is essential oil not that fake stuff. Sounds like it's unanimous- I'll be flushing out the old sinuses tomorrow! I never had a sinus infection but I guess I better call the doctor on Monday because I might be told don't take my MTX.
Bob-it's not really bad like a migraine- they make me take to my bed- but it's lasted so long it's wearing me out. Just constant moderate pain.

Sno- I printed out the acupressure instructions.  I just tried the areas just around my sinuses so far and it does feel good when I apply pressure!

Lyndee I don't have any Lavender Oil so I used a little icy hot on my temples too- hope I don't burn my face off.

CVS is going to make a mint on me tomorrow!

Feel better soon.
when I get a migraine, if I feel it coming, I can often knock it out using Tylenol allergy sinus extra strength.

otherwise its  vicodin.
I know exactly what you are talking about. Except i have had that for a year now. Yes the sinus part of it. I wonder if it has to do with dry sinus. I have Sjoprgrens. Then i even wonder if it's Wegnor's Granulomatoses. My sinuses burn swell throb. But the migrain comes along with all of it. Ouch! Really isn't good for my concentration level. Headaches can ruin an other wiae good day. Feel better. Let me know what you find out. I see the doc about it in 12 days.I think my worst headaches are from a flare to the lining around the brain.  Or, as just what happened recently, my thyroid meds were way off and I was on too high a dosage.  Two weeks later the headache is finally gone.  Good luck.  OMG - I can't believe that someone else has this kind of headache - unrelenting pain on the one side of the face - mine is from about the eyebrow to the gums.  I woke up with mine on Oct 18th and it is just now easing up, 3 weeks to the day!  I initially thought it was a MTX headache, having just increased the dose but when it didn't wear off in a few days and stayed on the one side of my face I thought maybe I had a sinus thing going on even though I wasn't stuffy or sore to touch on my face.  I took decongestants for 10 days without any improvement.  I tried tramadol thinking that if I could just stop the headache, then it would go away but no, I would fall asleep after taking the tramadol and wake up 3 hrs later with the same @#$% headache.  I went to my PCP after 1 1/2 wks.  He did a CT scan which ruled out brain tumors and sinusitis. (good news!) My B/P was only slightly high and my eye looked OK.  He said he just didn't know what was causing it but Rxd Prednisone 20 mg X 5 days to see if that would make it go away. However, I didn't want to take it - I'd rather find out exactly what is causing the headache and deal with it directly.  I have had glaucoma in the R eye in the past so I had the eye pressure checked = no change. For the past week, I have been wearing an old mouthguard at night that I had made 10-15 yrs ago thinking that maybe it was a jaw problem, though it doesn't hurt in that area and is not swollen.  The clicking & clunking is the same as always.  I saw my dentist on Thursday. I had him check the guard for fit.  He did some minor adjustments to it and said that my TMJ is pretty bad and to wear the guard as much as possible, day & night.  He also said to eat a soft diet, try alternating hot & cold compresses and take NSAIDS.  I am eating the soft diet, wearing the mouth guard, and doing the compresses; no NSAIDS because my liver test came back elevated (sigh) a few weeks ago....Anyway, the good news is that for WHATEVER reason - the headache is definitely better today - in fact, almost completely gone - Knock on wood!  And I didn't take the prednisone :-)  I'm not entirely convinced that the headache was caused by TMJ but I guess it seems the most likely cause, in my case.  Do you have a mouth guard you could use?  Maybe you could try the compresses and diet, as well.  Just be patient as it may take a while for those things to help enough to reduce the pain.
And believe me when I say "I know how you feel"!  I sincerely hope that you get relief soon.  It is so so nice NOT to have a miserable headache  24/7   :-)
