of 30 minutes ago is John Key and the National Party. This after 9 years of leadership by the Labour Party and  soon to be ex Prime Minister Helen Clark.

I am a happy chappy right now but had to crack up at TV coverage from the new and ex PM's homes where they were ensconced during the vote count. (And counting around 2.3 million eligible votes dont take long..lolol  4 hours to be exact.) The crowds outside their respective abodes totalled around 200 to 300 people.

Small is good.

ETA; ooops....this is he...

Um...er...excuse my ignorance - but could you translate the National Party and Labour Party into American terms?  Liberals?  Cons?

Congratulations and may be new PM be just the right person for the job.
A few years ago I saw Helen Clark on television showing someone around your counry, guess it must have been a documentary.  I was very impressed with the scenery and the changes from one part of the country to the next and put it on my list of "places I most want to visit".

Well, if you're happy with your new PM, congratualtions!
I'm not implying you shouldn't be----I have no clue about NZ politics.
NZ is also a place I'd really like to visit. I've met several NZers and they are great people, plus it look beautiful there.Hmmmmm, I must find out how our political parties correspond to the States. Its a tad confusing! lol

Here is a great short video on NZ if anyone wants to take a look.

Are there websites for the National Party and Labour Party?  That could answer any questions about the various policies.

The YouTube was great!
