OT cat scratch | Arthritis Information

I was ambitious last night.

My son is bringing his new kitten when he comes home for Thanksgiving. I have an inside cat who never goes out and a few outside cats. I know the outside cats have fleas- we have treated them and it was not a big infestation but I noticed inside kitty all of a sudden turning around and biting herself like a flea was biting her.

She has taken over son's room as her own while he's been gone soooooo...

I took off all his bedding and washed it in hot water, did a super job of vaccuming and gave kitty a flea bath.

Well she bit me once- didn't break the skin and gave me a good dig which did bleed.

I washed it really good but didn't bother putting anything on it.

Now today the scratch doesn't look awul, it doesn't hurt, it's not warm but there is a quarter size area around it that is pink and around that is a darker pink outline circle. Kind of what you thinl to look for if you get bitten by a deer tick.

Do you think I should be concerned?

wanttobeRAfree2008-11-12 08:07:13Hey-Well as you know I have kitties. When we got Marley in August he game to us with a host of problems, and I got scratched once or twice. It's hard to say. Sometimes a kitty scratch is irritating to the skin without anything bad going on. I would definitely peroxide clean it, put some neosporin on it, and keep an eye on it today. If it looks the same or worse tomorrow go to the doc. You don't want to mess around, but you don't want to be an alarmest either. Hi La!

Unfortunately I have none of that here at work. I didn't notice it until I got here. Well...maybe we do have something- I'm going to check the first aid cabinet and see if anyone bothered to refill it.

I am not an alarmist either. But after last week with my son hospitalized with MRSA. I must tell you and I know you will, keep it clean... remeber this MRSA thing is fresh with me. there is actually an illness called cat scratch fever.

make sure you keep it clean, and if it doesnt heal soon call the dr..

Hi all. Well I guess my super duper over active immune system kicked in and wiped out what ever it was because I just looked at it and that ring and redness is all gone. Just a little scratch left!
