MTX Shot question | Arthritis Information

Sorry to be a pain, but when the doctor gave me the news that
I was going to be switched to the MTX shot instead of the pills
his nurse said....easy shot, subcutaneous.  Well, just picked up
the MTX/needles and it said to inject intramuscularly.

HELP????  Which way, I'm confused.
Hey Debrakay,

I usually njected MTX into my stomach (no muscle there, but quite an abundance of fat...).  MTX can also be injected into the thigh muscle, but I found that it caused pain.

Check with the pharmacist or your doctor to be sure...

I use the same needles one would use for insulin.  They are very thin and I can hardly feel them.  I inject into the middle of the top half of my thigh.  Remember to let the alcohol dry before inserting the needle, and give your skin a pinch at the injection site.  Then you can release after you've got the needle in.  About the intramuscular/subcutaneous question, I'd just call your pharmacist.  He'll/she'll know.Yeah I inject in my stomach, 2 inches from my belly button.  But be sure to call to clarify...
