I will be having breast surgery as there are inflammatory changes. I don't want it to turn into a tumor so I'm going to have it removed just for prevention. I already have another infection starting now that the antibiotics have worn off. He thinks it may take care of the chronic pain. Lori, the way it's worded I don't know if you're having the inflammation removed or your breast.  Please let us know.  I'm really concerned.  LindySounds like you're doing the smart thing.  I mean, too bad you have to go through surgery again, but good thing you aren't just stuck with the problem.I too am wondering..not quite sure what's being removed.so sorry you're having to have surgery, Lorster.  Do you know when this will take place?

I'm sorry too, Lorster.

Hope everything goes well Lorster. Best of luck Lorster.  What a choice to have to make.  CathyI'm confused as to what is being removed also! Wishing you success and relief after your procedure! I'm not sure what's happening either... but I'm here for you Lor!    take careyikes, i went back and read that and it did look like the whole thing was coming off. No, just an area of necrotic tissue that is causing inflammation. my pre op appt is next wednesday. i'm very worried and i would love to know if anyone has ever had this happen. the last time i had surgery, i woke up and could not breath...took about 2 hours to resolve it but it was the longest two hours of my life. i'm very worried that this will happen again. has anyone ever experienced this? i would love some input.
Good luck with the procedure on the breast

lorrie2008-11-21 22:21:30Lor, sorry to hear you have to go through this.  How long ago was the surgery when you had that post-op problem?  There's always improvement w/anesthesia, also, since you have that problem, they can perhaps take steps to avoid it occurring again.  The thought of surgery is always unnerving, i had both my hips replaced in 06, and the second one was a breeze, cuz I knew what to expect, in fact, the nurse teased me about how much more relaxed and calm I was the second time around.  So, most likely everything will go smoothly for you, I'll be thinking of you, take care.
the shortness of breath occurred when I had the breast surgery a year ago. so it is pretty fresh in my mind. I have gone under general several times over the past few years (due to my sphincter of oddi problem) and never had this happen. they told me they had a difficult time extubating me. that is all i know about it.

Best wishes for a super fast recovery with no problems after!!!! We want you well for the rest of the year sweetie!

I was glad to read your second message  - thanks for the clarification.   Hope things go well next week and you have a speedy recovery.

Cathy
I hope it goes well. Will the procedure be inpatient? or outpatient?
I personally think they ship ya home a little early. I had rotator cuff repair for a mass tear and they sent me home same day..oh baby the dilotin (sp) I went home on was greatr, but when it wore off...Yikes.

Chain yourself to the hospital bed. Take the time to rest. I hope for a very speedy recovery. Best wishes my friend,
Lisa
they shipped you home same day cause you were a pain in the ass b-tch.Glad to hear it's not the entire breast. Do you work in a hospital? Will you be having the surgery there? Maybe someone there could give you some insight on what you can expect. Hope all goes smoothly!

Hope all goes well, Lorster, and speedy recovery!

Good thoughts for you.Lori, I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I hope it takes care of the problem for good.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

much love, Nini
Lori, just got back online.  We're in Mexico and wifi is very iffy.  I'm glad you cleared up my confusion  If it's an area of inflammation can they do the surgery under local anesthesia?  Also talk to the anesthesiologist and they may not have to intubate you for this type of surgery, maybe just some local, Fentanyl or one of the other amnesic drugs.  Surgery, no matter where or how serious is always nerve wracking.  I think you have some anesthetic options.  Take care.  Lindyhey Lorster,
hope all goes well.....
